Parenting with Confidence

Last month, I just completed my 1st Parenting With Confidence class as a facilitator.

Pwc class edit

It has been fun getting to know more parents from City Harvest, and I enjoyed finding more about their lives and sharing my Parenting Experiences with them.

I think we all came to a conclusion that Parenting is a journey, where both husband and wife must walk together.  As in every journey, when we have God and encouraging friends to help us along the way, the valleys certainly become less lonely.

We also realized that we should not take ourselves so seriously, and laughter is certainly the best medicine, as we shared about our mistakes Smile

Definitely looking forward to the next class!

National Day Cheer

National Day is especially memorable for the kids because they get to perform in school. As Nicole is in K2, this will be her last performance in Pre-School. For Nathan and Nadine, the performances also mark another milestone, as they are also getting bolder in their public appearances! Smile

If you can’t find Nadine in the group photo, I am sure that this collage will help you identify our little princess.

Nathan especially did us proud this year. His 1st public performance was a stark contrast to Nicole’s, who seems to thrive on the stage. Both Daddy and Mummy remember him crying through his first performance…However, this year our little boy was the MAN of the house!

Here’s a picture of him lining up together with his friends. Just some trivia, do you notice the number of kids wearing a pair of “Crocs”? I reckon that they should start sponsoring some children’s events, so that they can increase their market share!

We also had problems finding Nathan a pair of white shorts for the performance. In the end, he was wearing his boxer shorts! That’s why his shorts are shorter than the average length! Smile

A highlight for both Daddy and Mummy was that Nathan actually shook his little butt in the performance. Daddy had a Big Smile on his face, as he watched the home video of him.

And Finally we have Nicole! A veteran of public performances as compared to her siblings. As usual, she made Mummy and Daddy proud of her!

A Big Congrats to the teachers who did a great job at the performance. The best costume went to the girls from K1, who dressed up in Indian Saris.

Until the next performance..Happy National Day! Smile

Nicole’s Birthday Party

So many things happened in the month of June, that I have been just trying to catch up with my blogging.

One event that has been begging to be blogged about is Nicole’s Birthday Party. Previously she has had party themes like a “Milo Party” or a “Traffic Light Party”, but this year we decided to keep it simple, and just have a birthday party! Smile

nicole

The best thing about Kids is that they are “Born to Party”. They enjoy any form of entertainment and Daddy was “roped in” to become game master due to last minute hiccups.

Even though I had just recovered from Dengue fever, I managed to muster all my strength, to lead the kids in a simple “Aeroplane” game!

Every Party also needs a Magician, and we arranged for one of our friends from Taiwan to help out in this area. It was quite intriguing to watch a magic show in Mandarin rather than English.

Mummy also engaged a Caricaturist who made our day by drawing fun pictures of the adults and kids! Smile The kids also enjoyed taking turns in the “Hot Seat”, so that they could be drawn by our cartoonist.

The highlight for Nicole was of course her “Hello Kitty” birthday cake. Made of Agar agar, it proved to be very edible! (check out the strategic candle positions)

And my little girl was absolutely delighted when the rest of the kids sang “Happy Birthday” at the top of their voices!

And of course Nicole also enjoyed her many “Kodak Moments” with her form teacher and her classmates.

I Won the Shell Fuel Save Challenge

Last Saturday was a really eventful weekend!

Not only did I get to meet celebrities like Eunice Olsen and Radio DJ Joe Augustine, but I got to participate in the Shell Fuel Save Challenge. I also caught up and met Bloggers like Daphne, Diana, DK and Cheryl.

What is the Shell Fuel Save Challenge about?

Basically, it is a competition where you try to travel as far as you can on 1 litre of petrol. Speed is definitely not the essence in this competition, as contestants try to save fuel by not revving their engines and instead, travel at the car’s most optimum speed.

This was my first attempt at such a competition, and I was terribly excited about the whole thing.

However, things did not go as smoothly as anticipated…

The contestants were given a briefing about Shell before the competition, and I was busy SMSing my boss.

After the lecture, we were suddenly given a “Pop Quiz”, and we were told that for every wrong answer, contestants would face penalty points.

Guess What?

Yours Truly got the maximum penalty awarded for the most number of wrong answers, while the rest got ZERO penalties.

Besides being in TOTAL DESPAIR, I had an extra 45kg added to my car, and the air-con turned to an undesirable 23 Degrees (All these variables are undesirable, when your objective is to save fuel).

But Miracles do happen…I actually came in 1st for the Blogger’s competition, and my distance travelled was the best for the day! (Congrats to Diana, who came in 2nd! )

On 1 Litre of Petrol, I managed to travel 19.36km.

This was definitely a God-sent Miracle! :)

Many Thanks to my wife and family, who kept on believing in Daddy, and for other angels such as my friendly co-driver, who helped me relax along the route. Not forgetting Crystal and Rachel for inviting me for the challenge! :)

And Many Thanks to Shell for the Grand Prize of 1 year’s Supply of PETROL, and for the chance to compete in Shell’s Eco-Marathon in Malaysia. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience! :)

…In the OCBC advertisement!

The month of March has really been exciting for the kids! Nathan was in the MRT ads recently with Jewel Box, and recently, the kids found themselves in another advertisement!

OCBC regularly sends out a mailer to its customers. I usually get the mailers together with my credit card bills. In the month of March, the mailer will go out with information about WOW Art Studio.

The family was featured in the mailer, and the kids’ photos are in it! :)
