Hong Kong Disneyland (Part 1)

Last weekend, we were in Hong Kong and we had a real BLAST!

Why? Because we were not just in Hong Kong, but we were at Hong Kong Disneyland!!!

When we broke the news the kids, they went wild! And who could blame them…as the experience was simply magical! Smile

The moment we entered the magical kingdom,  we were surrounded by a wave of music…how can you not be happy when you hear “Zip-A-Dee-Do-Da-Zip-A-Dee-Dey! My-O-My, What a Wonderful Day!”

Check out the joy beaming out of the children’s hearts, as they posed at the entrance of Disneyland.

As we reached the park at midday, we were just in time for the parade. Entitled “Flights of Fantasy”, the kids could not contain their excitement, as they awaited for the floats to come down Main Street.

The great thing about this trip was that we were invited guests for “Disney’s Prestige Tour”.

This means that we don’t need to queue up for the attractions, and when we were at the “Flights of Fantasy Parade”  we had special reserved seating! Oh! it was simply fantastic, as it meant that we did not have to fight for a place on the sidewalk! Smile

To add to the festivities, the kids were also invited to participate in the Parade. Here is a picture of Nicole and Kirsten (From Mothers Inc), trying out the “Limbo Rock”

Next stop was “it’s a small world!”

It was under renovation, the last time we went to Disneyland, 2 years ago. So, it was good to finally catch this attraction. Disney really knows how to create a really happy atmosphere, as there was really Happy Music everywhere, and the rides brought us to different worlds.

With the Prestige tour, we also got Priority seating at a Broadway Style Musical called “The Golden Mickeys!”

Due to our guides, we also managed to skip the long queues, and get on the “Jungle River Cruise” in record breaking time.

Nathan was a bit apprehensive about the boat ride, as the last time he went on it, he was a bit afraid of the fire, when the boat was caught in mini rapid.

Check out the silent determination as he got into the boat, and of course, he made sure that he sat in the centre of the boat as well, away from any possible danger Winking smile

Here are some views from the ride:

And oh YES! Our little Tiger made it through the ride without any tears. Even 4 yo Nadine, had no problems with the ride. So in case you are wondering, it’s safe for the kids! Smile

But the highlight of the tour, was of course our visit to the latest attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland! And this was none other than Toy Story Land!

With our tour guides, we were able to skip all the queues and go for any ride that we wanted! It is even faster than any fast pass, as you still have a 5-10 queue with those passes.

And this was Nathan’s favourite ride! Yes! The Slinky Dog Spin!

While Daddy went for the scariest ride of them all…

This 27m U-Shaped monster called “RC racer, shoots you into mid-air had my heart pumping like a speed engine! Try spotting me as I went through my ordeal!

If you look carefully, I am in the last row…2nd guy (next to Kelvin from Mothers Inc, who has his hands raised).

We were sitting in the last row…which is also the scariest row…trust me…I did not do it again! Smile

Find out in our next post, which was mummy’s scariest ride! Smile

Disneyland in Hong Kong

One of the highlights about going to Hong Kong is that I get to go to Disneyland.

So the trip to Disneyland was something that I was looking forward to!

If you are wondering whether Hong Kong is child friendly – let me reiterate again that it is NOT!

However, Disneyland is the most child friendly place on this island.

First of all, going to Disneyland is actually quite easy, as it is accessible via their subway (MTR).

In fact, you will know immediately that u are on the right train, as this is a special Disney Train!

Its handrails and windows are decorated Disney Style, and the whole cabin is also decorated according to the Disney theme.

If u ask me…they  start psyching you up for a magical experience, right from the start.

Arriving at the station, we were welcomed by the Disney Fountain and many Kodak moments.

DSC_0162 I was going crazy with my camera…Unfortunately not everyone on my crew was ready to be a model at this particular moment…:)

Tickets to the Park are priced at $350 HK dollar (Approx Sing $70) for an adult and $250 HK dollar (Sing $50) for children aged 3 to 12.

It is definitely a bit pricey, but things are never cheap when u go on a holiday!

As we entered the park , we were brought into Main Street USA and the iconic Disneyland Castle.

Hong Kong Disneyland is the smallest of all of Disney’s theme parks and it has only 3 “Lands” for us to visit (A normal park has 5).

We headed off to “Adventureland” first, where we were going to travel to the Amazon Jungle, to discover the perils of living in a primitive jungle.

DSC_0202

As we entered “Adventureland”, one of the Amazing things that we saw was a “cleaner”. In fact, we thought that he was just doing his job and clearing the rubbish.

When we took a closer look, we realized that the “Cleaner” was actually an “Artist”.

This is his finished work!

DSC_0210

Wow! Isn’t that Amazing! If u give me a broom and a bucket of water, I will give u “Abstract Art”….We clapped for the ‘cleaner’ when he finished drawing…and he smiled! I think we made his day!

Next up was the “Jungle River Cruise”

Basically, the boat brought us along the Amazon jungle, and we encountered mechanical elephants, monkeys, hippos and flesh-eating piranas.

However, the children found one part of the ride really scary, and that when when the boat got “trapped”  in the river and we faced volcano fire and a man-made waterfall! In fact, the children from every part of the boat started crying!

DSC_0279

Don’t worry…it is not that scary!

How was the ride?

It was nothing to shout about! Just something that u must do, when you go on vacation! Nicole did not like it due to the excitement of the fire and the waterfall…Don’t think she wants to go for another round!

The best part about every “land” is that they have a show. “Adventure land” was featuring “The Lion King”.

DSC_0300

Based on the movie and the musical, we were in for a treat!

The cast that was singing and dancing were as good as the one found in the musical, and we enjoyed listening to the songs and the dance presented to us!

My Verdict of Adventure land

Watching the performance “The Lion King” is a MUST! It is a shortened presentation of the musical and u will thoroughly enjoy the music and the songs. It is good enough to entertain children and adults!
