As you enter the restaurant, you can tell that you are entering into a real classy restaurant. Being foodies, we were excited to discover the offerings in this chinese restaurant. Setting our eyes on the menu, we immediately ordered all our favorite Dim Sum dishes!

Here are some of our  Dim Sum offerings at Tung Lok Teahouse:

dim sum

As usual when it comes to Chinese dim sum, we had Steamed Chicken Feet with Black Beans, Steamed Pork Ribs with Black Bean Sauce, Crisp-fried Radish Pastry. I liked the Har Gao served at the restaurant, as the prawns seemed to be bigger than the usual ones, that we get at Chinese restaurants. If you love Chee Cheong Fun, you will like those served at Tung Lok Teahouse. The Crispy Chee Cheong Fun has everything that you would expect in good Cheong Fun. The skin is smooth, but the unusual thing is that the top part of the skin is crispy. It’s very different from what you usually eat, and we were happy with the outcome! 🙂 Yummy! 🙂

We also tried the Xiao Long Bao. Personally I think the soup within the Bao, is the one that makes all the difference. On saying this, the soup in the Tung Lok Xiao Long Bao is refreshingly delicious. After taking the first bite of the skin, as I fully engrossed in slurping the soup. We had another round of this dish, and we loved it so much.

Everytime when  when we go for Dim Sum, we would love to savor the porridge which they serve. Teochew Porridge is different from Cantonese Porridge, as the former is more watery. To us, every porridge here seems to be of the “Above Average” standard. Our personal favorite was the Minced meat oyster porridge, which had little oysters in the porridge. The Sliced fish porridge, Minced meat century egg porridge were also delicious and worth the try.

If you love your fried food, you guy friends will like the deep-fried Beancurd Skin Rolls with Fresh Prawns. I had no complaints about this dish, as I love fried food! : ) Here is a quick look at some other dishes that we tried:

For the desserts, I liked the  Chilled Snow Lotus Seed Pudding served in Young Coconut. Served together with a dash of ice cream on top, the whole combination was refreshing, and I gladly finished the whole dessert, even though I was quite full already 🙂

My wife who likes Ooh Nee did not mind the fried version as seen in the picture below.

Overall, I liked my visit to Tung Lok Teahouse. The food was out of the norm, and I feel that there were more “Hits” than “Misses” in the menu we sampled. We liked it so much, that we went back to the restaurant again on a later date! 🙂
