Our Block Party

We have finished our Block Party, and we can safely say that it was a Big Success! A few weeks ago, on a Saturday evening, we invited our neighbors to gather at our block’s hall for some good old fashioned Kampong Party, and we were ecstatic with their response and support. It was certainly grand to witness our neighbors bringing down their best dishes, as we met and got to know each other over local favorites like curry, bee hoon and chicken wings. (Check out how our adventures started in Post 1 and Post 2)

Trust me when I tell you, that we have not tried something like this before, and it was certainly a big step of faith for us to knock on doors and speak to our neighbors. Just when you think that Singaporeans are the most “Unhappy” and maybe the most “Unfriendly” people in the world, our neighbors surprised us, by being real and friendly.

We want to thank our Mum for opening up her neighborhood to us, and for all our friends in assisting us with the decorations for the party. Although we did not get to hold the party at the badminton court nearest to our block, the events hall was a good alternative. With wall mounted fans, and a roof over our heads, it proved to be a valuable alternative on a hot humid afternoon. The kids were naturally excited our party, and they were more than willing to “pitch in” and “Goof around” as we decorated the hall. After setting up some simple balloons and streamers, Nicole was more than willing to pose for photos! 🙂

And of course, the party wouldn’t have been possible without the help our neighbours and the sponsorship from POSB. Look at the food that the neighbours brought! Check out the food, and the “Selfies” that i took with my neighbors! We are glad that we can put some names behind those faces that we walk past everyday.

The experience was unforgettable, and we would gladly do it again! 🙂
