Top 3 Favorite Staycations in Singapore
As families try to squeeze in vacation time during the June or 1 week school holidays, families are looking at local staycations as a viable holiday option. Besides being lighter on the wallet, Staycations offer the kids a break from the holiday schedule, and a time for the whole family to take a well-deserved break. As we have been to quite a few staycations in Singapore, here is our list of the Top 3 Favorite Staycations in Singapore:
Top 3 staycations in Singapore:
1) Shangri-la Rasa Sentosa Resort
Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort is one of the rare Beach Front Resorts in Singapore. Offering Holiday fun in a pool side resort, with a natural beach as an add-on, Rasa Sentosa scores high on the Staycation score card. It is no wonder that Rasa Sentosa is ranked as one of the top 2 Hotels in Sentosa by Tripadvisor.
One of the great things about staying at the Rasa Sentosa is that the rooms are tailored for the family. Our room did not just come with a King Sized Bed, but also a sofa bed, which can be converted into 2 single beds for the kids. This means that one does not need to fork out that little extra, for an additional bed in the room.
This is the Balcony view from our room and overlooks the Hotel’s Swimming pool and Beach Front. If you manage to get the sea view rooms, you will get some great views of the ocean. Besides the 5 Star rooms, the hotel offers great service. From early in the morning, you will realize that there are activities around the hotel for the kids. We were lining up for breakfast, and there were games for the kids to play, as we were queuing up for a table.
What we loved most at the Hotel was their kids club. The kids club offers a drop off service similar to those found at Club Med. There is a full day program for the kids such as Soccer and other beach activities to keep the young ones occupied, while parents head off for some couple time. This service is provided Free for hotel guests! 🙂
Below are the pictures of the Club House, where the kids can hang out. The Club house comes complete with a 2 storey tree house that comes complete with slides.
What the kids will love about Rasa Sentosa are the water slides in the pool area. With 3 slides offering varying speeds for the kids, my children loved their day at the pool. With the Hotel providing life vests, and the beach just a few steps away, Rasa Sentosa offers great fun in the sun for the whole family.
The value for the family does not stop there. Every Sunday, Rasa Sentosa offers a Sunday Brunch that comes complete with a walking band, magic show and other fun activities for the kids. If you happen to be just dining there for the Sunday Brunch, the hotel also offers the usage of the swimming facilities to guests (Read more Sentosa’s Sunday Brunch here)
2) Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore
The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore offers breath-taking views of the Singapore Marina Bay. While Sentosa offers the Beach life to guests, the Ritz offers more of a city holiday, as it is conveniently situated within the city center. The Ritz is currently rated by Trip Advisor as One of the Top 5 Hotels in Singapore, and it scores high, due to it’s thoughtful service.
The rooms may be a bit dated, but the views from the room are fantastic. The Harbor looks great both in the day and night, and soaking in the bathtub is just simply relaxing. At check-in, you will find that the rooms come complete with coloring kits, bathrobes, slippers, and toiletries for the kids. If you are at the Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore to celebrate an Anniversary or a birthday, do let the staff know, as they are always ready to provide that “little something” to make the occasion extra special.
Our kids loved the Free Ice Cream Passes and the way that they served us, when we were guests at the Ritz. The family friendly environment extends to the F&B services offered at the Ritz. You can be sure that the kids are well taken care of during your meals here! To find out more about the hotel, do follow the link to the Ritz-Carlton
And finally, our top 3 favourite staycation has to include the very classic hotel in Singapore:
3) Raffles Hotel Singapore
The Grand Old Dame of Singapore is the symbol of Colonial past in Cosmopolitan Singapore. Currently ranked as the No.3 Hotel in Trip Advisor, this hotel scores high not just due to it’s friendly service, but also due to its history and past. The hotel comes with trimmings and history that brings one back in time, and offers a great history lesson to Colonial Singapore for the Kids.
Checking in, you will realize that the room itself is like a trip back in time. From the old creaking floors, Colonial Bathtubs, to the old switches, the room is a nice history lesson by itself. (To see more pictures, read our post on the Raffles Hotel)
Guests who stay at the hotel will be treated to a history tour, that not only informs guests of the Rich and Famous who have patronized the hotel, but also how the Raffles has managed to maintain its history.
To keep the kids entertained, the Raffles has got a special program for all children. Introducing the Raffles Adventure Passport. The passport contains a series of fun activities that encourages them to complete and collect stamps, whilst learning more about the history of the Hotel. Take a picture of the iconic doorman or answer simple questions about Tigers at the Hotel! Collect the Stamps and kids can get complimentary ice-cream, learn to make their own pizzas or mocktails Free of Charge!
As the Raffles Hotel is ideally situated within the historical precinct of the City, the Raffles makes a great starting point for a historical walking tour of Singapore. During the stay, you can educate your children about the Old National Library, the National Museum and other historical buildings around the area. Also do check in at The Halia, at the Raffles hotel, which offers our current favorite dessert – Sticky Toffee Pudding!
If you are staying at the Raffles on the weekend, do join them for the Sunday Brunch. The Buffet spread on Sunday is fabulous, where one will get an ever-flowing supply of foie gras and champagne. In conclusion, all 3 Hotels do offer that little extra for the family, and we loved our staycations at all 3 Hotels. Depending on whether you are more in love with the beach or the City, we are sure that there is One Hotel here, which your family will love! 🙂
