Everyone Remembers John Travolta in “Stayin’ Alive”. This iconic movie pushed John Travolta into super stardom, and the movie poster of John doing his Saturday Night Fever pose is symbolic of this movie’s popularity. Together with songs like “How deep is your love”, the musical replays the famous Bee Gees songs, which have since been elevated to evergreen cult classics. Once the curtain is drawn, “Saturday Night Fever” opens with a lively rendition of “Stayin’ Alive,” ensuring that the crowd gets into the disco mood. Maximizing the stage, the set comes alive with a giant bridge that wonderfully transforms into a street, hardware, house, park, and disco club at any given time. Together with numerous Bee Gees classics like  “Night Fever,” “You Should Be Dancing,” “How Deep Is Your Love,” “More Than A Woman,” “Immortality,” “If I Can’t Have You,” patrons are in for a rocking disco time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our night out together, and this is a show where you would leave the kids at home. Coarse Language and sexual references are prevalent in the show. Aside from the language, there were many enjoyable scenes that got us tapping and going “wow”, as the dancers discoed into our hearts.  We enjoyed the last scene of Act 1, and watch out for the grand finale, where the actors will bring out their full repertoire, as they bring the curtains down on a hot Saturday Night.

If you love dancing, you will need to catch “Saturday Night Fever” at the Marina Bay Sands theatre.  Tickets can be bought at Sistic, and the show runs till 4 October.
