JJ’s Science Adventure: Heat and Light
Comic Books are always a hit with children, and one of the best educational comic books is back in town! 🙂 JJ’s Science adventure has just released it’s 2nd installment; heat and light, and we are glad to have got our hands onto copy to review. The first book, “Magnets” was well received by our kids, and we could not wait to get our hands on the 2nd book!
Based on Singapore’s MOE Science Syllabus, the comic book lets children learn about “Heat and Light” in a fun educational way. Author of the series Aurelia Tan (Ex- MOE Teacher), wrote the series in the hope that it will reignite the love of learning in children. Realizing that kids learn differently, and that traditional textbooks are “boring” to some students, her passion to educate led her to use interesting narratives, bright colors and key learning points, to communicate learning to different learners.
In this story, after receiving their birthday presents from their grandfather, the usual protagonists, Jonathan and Joyce, find themselves in possession of two bags which transform into a talking robot (Robo) and a teleportation portal. With a set of keys from Robo, the kids open the portal into sub-dimensional worlds created by the ‘World Maker’, an incredible invention b y their grandfather to help them learn science.
Based on the main science theme, the twins journey into the World of Heat and Light where they solve challenging puzzle traps laid by their grandfather. Will they survive the constant sabotage by a minion sent by Mr Sinister and win the prize, a piece of puzzle key which unlocks yet another secret?
