The Halia – Weekend Brunch

We love good food, and one of the recent restaurants that we have been frequenting is “The Halia”. Located at the Raffles Hotel and at the Botanic Gardens, this classy restaurant is not just great for family gatherings, but for meetings with colleagues and friends. Besides sampling the “Communal Feast” menu, we recently went back to the restaurant to sample their “All day Weekend Brunch” menu and it was definitely a tasteful gastronomic delight! 🙂

Mushroom on toast ($17++)

Mushrooms are a bit hit with my family, and combined together with sourdough, this was a sweet combination that made us hunger for more. With the greens and mushrooms resting artistically on top of the sourdough, the plate spoke not just to our tummy, but to our eyes as well.

Steak and Eggs ($38++) – Dish is currently unavailable

As all men are carnivores, bacon and eggs might just not be enough for the Man of the house. That is why I started my afternoon brunch with some steak and eggs. Consisting of Poached eggs, toasted brioche, tomato, herb hollandaise and a tasty slab of meat, I had no complaints about this perfect combination of eggs and meat. Although in terms of cost, it is on the high side, this set is one that will fill your tummy, and provides enough fuel for the whole day.

Bacon Spaghettini “carbonara” ($24++)
All kids love Spaghetti and this dish was a real hit with Nathan! Sauce was nice and creamy, and he loved the bacon! 🙂

Breaded Fish & Chips ($12++)
Dining with 3 kids is always never easy, and it is important that restaurants have a well-priced and tasty kids menu whenever we dine out as a family. Our youngest girl had the fish and chips for brunch, and besides being a well-balanced meal, it certainly filled her tummy. The restaurant also provides lots of drawing materials to keep the kids entertained, as they wait for their food.

Sticky toffee pudding ($10++)
The best way to end every meal is with dessert. And the sticky toffee pudding is our ultimate most favorite dessert of the year. The butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream on the pudding is simply delicious, and this dessert always makes the kids clamor for more. We have since headed back to the restaurant for more this pudding! 🙂
