Fullerton Hotel Review

One of the most iconic hotels on the Singapore skyline is the Fullerton Hotel. Transformed from The Fullerton Building – a magnificent neoclassical landmark built in 1928, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore is an iconic 400-room heritage hotel which offers luxury, class and decadence. With its offering of Premium service, we were looking forward to our stay at the Fullerton Hotel.

When visitors look at the old dame, there is an immediate realization, that the Fullerton is oozing with History. The archives reveal that she was once home to the nation’s General Post Office, The Exchange and the prestigious Singapore Club – all of which played a pivotal role in the history of Singapore. It is therefore no wonder she is a member of Historic Hotels Worldwide, and that her monumental architecture stands out from the modern Singapore skyline.

Naturally, the kids were excited about our Fullerton experience, and as we were thrilled to check into the Loft suite. With its distinctive two-storey duplex suites and splendid high ceilings, the room is is simply luxurious.

There is simply so much room in this suite, that our 3 kids had tons of “Play room” to express themselves. Together with a dining room, there is space to host a business meeting, or entertain the family members that drop by.

From the living room on the lower floor, a spiral stair leads to the bedroom above, ensuring that the bedroom remains your private domain while business discussions take place in the living room. The toilet is well sized, equipped with a bathtub and Bvlgari laden toiletries, to ensure that you will be bathing in luxurious lather.

To ensure that guests can enjoy the beautiful Marina Skyline, guests can open the Suites’ original double storey French doors and be lead into a relaxing balcony, where one can slowly soak in the cosmopolitan SIngapore life.

After settling into the room, we headed off for an afternoon swim at the hotel’s swimming pool. Majestically located among the Doric columns, the pool proved to be a great place to soak in a nice tan. Our suite provided us with complimentary Straits Club privileges, which gave us afternoon tea, evening canapés and cocktails in a dedicated lounge.

One of the highlights of staying at the Fullerton Hotel is breakfast. Together with bacon and eggs, guests can also experience a Singapore “cuppa” together with kaya toast. Singaporeans enjoy the toast and eggs differently, and I saw many foreign guests, staring at the local toast being served. For breakfast, one can also experience cuisine from India and Japan, offering a great variety of choice for everyone. We have experienced quite a few breakfasts in our review of Hotels, and their breakfast will rank as one of the better ones that you can find in SIngapore. Therefore, don’t sleep through breakfast, if you are staying at the Fullerton.

One of the perks of Staying in the Fullerton Hotel is that, guests will find themselves in the heart of the City. With the Raffles Place MRT just 5 minutes away, one will find the Fullerton a convenient “home base”, as you make your way around the city. The Singapore River is just behind the hotel, and one will find the river bustling with restaurants and pubs  Walk along the opposite direction of the river, and you will find the Iconic Singapore “Merlion”, sprouting river just right at your doorstep. If you want to be in the center of the Old city, the Fullerton fits the bill perfectly.
