We rarely speak Mandarin at home, and we are naturally fearful about our 6yo’s linguistic skills. The good news is that, Nathan has been attending his Chinese Class at ChengZhu Mandarin Centre for the last few months and he has been loving it!

ChengZhu Mandarin Centre is part of the famous Julia Gabriel Centre, and they are renown for skilfully imparting language skills through fun learning environments.

Although Nathan can take a little time to get used to a new environment, he settled down easily in the class! This was surprising ,as he did not know anybody from the class. Check out Nathan’s progress here and here!

As this was the last week of his program, Parents were invited to sit in for the last class!

For the many parents gathered, it was a pleasant eye-opener as we saw the kids displaying their new vocabulary through games and drama. In this last lesson, the kids were also asked to vocalize and recognize the many new words which they have learnt over the past few weeks. It was good to see the kids having great fun as they displayed their new found knowledge.

The lead teacher was definitely engaging, and he was a bundle of energy throughout the whole session. Coupled with the low student ratio, it made the whole learning process much easier.

Overall Nathan had great fun, and he is more confident speaking in Mandarin. He now loves reading in Chinese, and to “show off” his new found knowledge to his siblings
