Giveaway: Rock of Ages Musical (Closed)
There is a new Musical in town! “Rock of Ages” is a Broadway Musical that is built around Classic Rock Tunes from the 1980s. Featuring Music from the famous Metal Glam Bands, patrons will get to hear music from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Europe.
Growing up, I did not follow all the Metal groups, as I was more into Pop groups like Pet Shop Boys, Rick Ashley and Depeche Mode. However, I am familiar with some of the songs, and it was definitely good, going down Memory lane with some of the songs.
The plot is about a small town girl called Sherrie, who follows her dreams of becoming an actress.Lost in a big city, she is saved by a wannabe singer Drew. Sparks fly, but there are obstacles down the rocky road of love. Add in an ambitious Property magnate who tries to destroy the club which they are working in, and watch how they struggle to make their dreams come alive.
If you love Rock Music, you will love your evening out with the “Rock of Ages”, as the musical comedy will take you on a journey to re-live your favorite Rock Classics. We heard familiar tunes like “More than Words” by Extreme, “Heaven” by Warrant, and “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey.
We found the rendition of “Can’t Fight this feeling” by Reo Speedwagon particularly hilarious. The lyrics of the song are just crying out for comedic expression, and the number definitely brings out the laughs from the crowd. Together with the grand finale, the songs had the crowd clapping to the beat.
Do take note that this is NOT a family show, as there are some raunchy acts and sexually explicit dance moves.
