Getting the Best Mileage on your Car!

Having a car in Singapore is so Expensive! Besides the astronomical costs of having a Certificate of Entitlement (COE), we have to contend with the ever increasing costs of Petrol. As Fuel prices are always on the rise, the best way to cut down on family bills, is to cut down on petrol usage. As the distances that we travel are fixed by our family schedules, the best way for us to be fuel efficient, is to adjust our driving habits.
Just this month, we picked up a Shell Fuel Save Log card from our local Shell Station. After Winning the Shell Fuel Save Challenge, and picking up some Fuel saving Tips through the years, we have put ourselves to the challenge again.
We are going to unlearn one of our Fuel Saving Habits, and see what happens when we don’t apply the Fuel Saving Tips. Hopefully, we don’t waste too much petrol, as fuel savings is important to our family. Will definitely keep you guys updated on the progress of the challenge! 🙂
On a side note, more and more cars are using Fuel Efficient Strategies to save fuel. In our latest test drive of the Volvo S60, we have noticed that the Volvo turns off it’s engine, when it comes to a complete stop at traffic lights. This function is also seen in hybrid cars and other fuel efficient automobiles. You will be surprised how much petrol is saved with this function! Although we don’t have a Volvo, we try to ensure that we adhere to such Fuel Saving Habits. Whenever we wait for the kids, we turn off our car engines, as an “idle” engine drinks petrol.
So do stay tuned, as we take on the Shell Fuel Save Challenge. Will have updates on our journey soon! 🙂
