Today’s Singaporean is always a busy executive, who spends long hours in the office. Sitting at the desk with many hours of screen time, causes undue stress and a break from the daily grind is always such a breath of fresh air. Upon stepping into the fitness spa, we were not too sure what to expect. We used to come by the badminton Hall area for some good Sze Char, but never for a relaxing massage. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the scale of g.spa. The company spent $3.5 million doing up the spa, and refurbishing the 24hr spa with 23 treatment rooms. Once you have settled the administration with reception, and decided on the treatment that you will be going for, you gain instant admission into a world of relaxing decadence.

We proceeded to the changing rooms, and both the guys and girls changing rooms are huge. The changing rooms come with big baths that you see in Turkey, where you can just relax before your treatment.

My wife and myself were invited for the “Gateway to Vitality” treatment, which is a deep tissue massage that aims to relieve blockages in the body for detoxification and improve blood circulation. We changed into our robes and we were ready to experience the treatment for ourselves. For those of you who like a “hard” massage, my masseur performed her role admirably. She went after my shoulders which was tied up in knots, and managed to get me to relax. After an hour of massage, I felt tremendously relaxed.

The best thing about g.spa is that after your treatment, you are free to roam around, and we immediately followed our stomachs to the cafe area. Here, patrons can enjoy free-flow food and drinks. From Laksa, Chicken Rice to Western food, the menu has something for everyone. The menu changes every four days and there is one international dish offered daily where one can find items like a jap bento box to lamb chops. And best of all. the cafe is a  “All you can Eat”, and at No extra charge.

For patrons who enjoy their privacy, they can book a VIP room, where one can enjoy their food, as well as watch or movie or surf the Internet without any external disturbances. For movie addicts, you can find English or Chinese Movies, as g.spa has a private cable channel to satisfy every visitor. The rooms are a great place to fellowship with your loved ones, as one can just spend the whole afternoon lazing around, without any agenda on your mind.

The manager told me that because g.spa is 24 hours, they have many patrons who come for a late night massage, and continue on with their beauty sleep on g.spa’s comfy massage chairs. They are only awakened by friends at dawn, for another round of breakfast at the cafe. Sounds like a good life! 🙂
