Fat people fined in Japan!
Men in Japan over the age of 40 need to have their waist line measured – And if they are overweight, the company is Fined!!!
Being Fat or obese is such a common phenomenon in today’s society that, we even have a reality show called “The Biggest Loser!” In fact, Nicole (My daughter) loves it so much, that she severely embarrassed the family while we were dining out previously. (Read the story here)
But Getting Fined is a whole new ball game!
Under Japan’s health care coverage, companies administer check-ups to employees once a year. Those who fail to meet the waistline requirement must undergo counselling. If companies do not reduce the number of overweight employees by 10% by 2012 and 25% by 2015, they could be required to pay more money into a health care program for the elderly.
So if you are a guy staying in Japan and your waist is over 35inches, you are in DEEP TROUBLE!
According to reports, an estimated 56 million Japanese will have their waists measured this year. (Read the Full Story here)
Isn’t this really shocking news? According to the CNN report, employees also find their job threatened when they are overweight!
Wa…Sounds drastic…but it might actually be effective!!! I am sure that we will have more men hitting the gym, if this becomes a National Law in Singapore as well.
Looks like I better start exercising a bit more in the days to come, or else I might be a wanted criminal in the Land of the Rising Sun!
