PepeNero (Dine 1 for 1 with the Entertainer)

Hands up if you love Italian food! The boys in my family are Big lovers of Italian food, and we love our spaghetti, pizza and basically anything Italian. However, as dining Italian can get quite pricey, we are always on the lookout for a good bargain. PepeNero which means Black Pepper in Italian is located in Stanley Street within the busy CBD. Here are some of the dishes that we sampled, and we will start off with our Top Pick!

1) Eggplant parmigiana

Eggplant is not such a common vegetable in the Asian diet, but your taste buds will love the Egg Plant parmigiana served at PepeNero.  Smooth to the taste, this dish was a delight to savor, and it really had us raving for more.

2) Fried Calamari

Singaporeans will be familiar with this fried dish. The squids and the batter used for this dish, proved to be a powerful combination, and we loved the taste.

3) Spaghetti Carbonara.

Nathan loves his Carbonara, and although it was not on the menu that day, the chef was kind enough to whip out a Spaghetti Carbonara just for him. We learnt from the staff that authentic Spaghetti Carbonana uses guanciale (Pork Cheek) instead of the bacon used in many local restaurants. We managed to have ours with guanciale and it made a noticeable distance in the taste. Served with Eggs and not cream, this dish was a favorite with my son.

Lasagna

Besides the traditional spaghetti dishes, PepeNero offers Lasagna which is a favorite with the girls in my family.

4) Angus Beef Tagliata with roasted potatoes and wild mushrooms

And this was our main course!  This was beef that was succulent, accompanied by mushrooms and potatoes that made a complete compliment to the dish. The Angus beef was delicately done, and it was ready to steal the heart of any carnivore.

5) Desserts: Tiramisu and Panna Cotta

You can’t go to an Italian Restaurant and not have their desserts. Both proved to be good way to end our meal!

Pepenero is in the mid priced range when it comes to food, so if you don’t want to “damage your wallet”, you will be glad to know that you can get 1 for 1 deals at this Italian Restaurant.
