Movie Review: Home coming

This Chinese New Year, one of the movies that your family can catch is “Home coming”!

Boasting of a cast of actors like Mark Lee, Jacelyn Tay, Ah Niu and of course Jack Neo…this show is really a barrel of laughs!

In the movie, Jack Neo reprises his role as a “cross-dresser”, which he successfully played a decade ago. Focusing on Family Values and the traditional Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner, the movie takes a look at how 3 families handle the traditional Chinese Dinner.

A very obvious omission from this movie is the blatant Advertising in Jack Neo’s previous movies. Gone are the obvious displays of Bee Cheng Hiang Bak Kua and Dolphin Drinks, which made their rounds in previous movies. Instead, the sponsorship from this movie was more subtle  (Thankfully for all viewers!)

The comedy factor in the show is an all-time high. We saw parodies of our grandparents, parents and ourselves which kept us tickled throughout. Mind you, these were quite accurately portrayed, not the slap stick lame jokes!

The show is heart-warming as well and reminded me of the traditional Chinese customs and values that I grew up with. This is one movie that I will definitely bring my parents and grandparents to!

Thanks to Hui Min from “The Right Spin”, the family was also able to go home with some souvenirs.

We managed to get a set of limited edition “HomeComing” adult Ez-link cards which are also available on sale at Singpost.

If you are wondering whether the movie can sustain the interest of your kids…My 6yo Nicole left the cinema commenting “The show is so funny! I laughed when you all laughed and I also cried when the actors cried!”

Go catch the movie. It is a must-see!
