HTC Butterfly 2: Waterproof, Great Camera & Long Battery Life

Most Singaporeans today own a handphone, and even my Primary School kids have been “bugging” me for one. The choice of our mobiles today, are pretty much determined by pricing and technology, as many of us are looking for mobiles with the latest technology with user-friendly functions. However, with the range of models available, many of us are lost for choice! Recently, we were sponsored a new HTC Butterfly 2, and we are impressed by what it offers!

Built on an Android Platform and carrying a Snapdragon processor at 2.5Hz, 2 GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage with expandable storage. The HTC Butterfly 2 has everything that a normal consumer like me needs and more. Although we not tech-junkies, here are 3 reasons why we love the new HTC Butterfly 2:

Long Battery Life:

I don’t know about you, but I really dislike carrying the portable batteries around. Most smartphones today suck up so much battery, that many of our friends are charging their mobiles by the late afternoon. Portable batteries are inconvenient, and problems arise when users are out late, and when there is just NO more juice left.

After using the HTC Butterfly 2 for the last 2 months, we are happy to report that the HTC phone has great battery life. Despite us surfing the internet and using “Whatsapp” heavily, we were able to live without charging our batteries. From 8am all the way to 11pm, the 2700mAh battery still had enough juice to survive without a charge! A thumbs up for convenience!

Water Resistant and Dust Resistant

My favorite attribute about the HTC Butterfly 2, is that it is Water Resistant. Frankly, to the end-user like myself, its water resistance is more than just being able to repel water. My friends tell me that a lot of bikers and sailors use the Butterfly 2, as they don’t need to be afraid about mud or the occasional splashes of water with the Butterfly 2. However, I think the water resistance level is more than just a glass of spilled milk. Check out how the HTC Handphone survived, as we put it through a Water test:

So imagine yourself at the toilet, and by some unforeseen force of nature, you drop your phone and it sinks to the bottom of the bowl. (I shall refrain from describing too much here…). Unfortunately, it has happened to many of our friends, and many of them said goodbye to their phones after such accidents. However, there is nothing to fear, if this happens to the HTC Butterfly 2.

Frankly, we were quite amazed with the Water Test results! Not being satisfied with the performance of the HTC handphone, in a sink, we decided to put it on a bigger test. We got the kids to throw the HTC Butterfly 2, into a swimming pool! Check out my amateur actors at work! 🙂

Camera with Great Editing Tools

One of the most important things in a Camera today is a great Camera! The HTC Butterfly 2 comes with a 13 Megapixel Camera, , f/2.0 lens, a dual-tone LED flash and a depth-sensing Duo camera. A fast camera is essential for low lighting, and together with ah a front 5 Megapixel Camera, it gives one great ability to take good selfiest.

HTC also has great photo-editing tools that come with its cameras. With Photo-editing tools similar to those found in Photoshop, it gives users the ability to do “magic” with their photos. For example, when a photo has bad lighting, I can adjust the brightness on faces, to make the photo stronger. Check out the lighting adjustment done on the last row! I deliberately made our faces brighter, so as to demonstrate the potential of the software.

Functions such as “Ufocus” also gives one the ability to create the “Bokeh” effect on Photos. This means that I can focus on certain aspects of a photo, while blurring out other parts. With the touch of a button, I can blur out the pizza and other Christmas delicacies found on the front of the picture. And all this without the need of using Photoshop!

With all the rest of the functions found in a Android phone, all available in the HTC Butterfly 2, we have no reasons to dislike this mobile phone. It is therefore not surprising to know, that many of our friends have given us positive feedback about their HTC phone as well.  If you are looking to make a switch, check out the HTC Butterfly 2.
