The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Sponsored Review
Malaysia is one of the most affordable places for Singaporeans, and being accessible by car, many Singaporeans love to go across the causeway for a short holiday. Recently, we travelled up North and visited the The Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
Yes! Forget about flying to a neighbouring country, as there are many perks in taking a road trip together with the kids. Together with our Kia Sorento, which proved to be a real comfortable 7 Seater SUV, we made our way to the Malaysian Capital in great time.
The Hotel’s Colonial Entrance was built in 1932, and the Hotel is a common stopover for the Rich and Famous in the days of the British Empire. Restored and Refurbished with a modern wing, the Hotel Majestic Kuala Lumpur was re-opened in 2012, and it is Malaysia’s answer to other Asian icons like Singapore’s Raffles Hotel.
Currently, the Hotel Kuala Lumpur includes the original Hotel Majestic which is documented as a national heritage site. It is the only hotel in Kuala Lumpur to be included in the Leading Hotels of the World luxury hotel collection. The affiliation verifies that the hotel meets a demanding set of quality standards which serve as the benchmark for the luxury hospitality industry, putting it in the company of some of the best hotels in the world.
With such a prestigious branding, we were therefore looking forward to our stay at the Majestic. This was the view that greeted us, when we entered our Hotel room. A real Classy room!
The rooms are good sized rooms that came complete with luxury toiletries from Crabtree and Evelyn. For families who need bigger rooms complete with a sitting room, this is the kind of space that you can expect. As usual the kids had no problems adapting to the comforts of the sofa and the In house entertainment.
Although KL is not too far away from Singapore, a 3-4 drive to the Malaysian Capital can be rather tiring. One will get stiff muscles due to the long drive, and a relaxing spa is something that will definitely help one loosen up one’s muscles. Daddy was invited to try out the Spa at the Majestic, and I can tell you that I slept like a baby with the massage.
The package first starts with a foot wash and head massage. The spa includes a complimentary extra 10 minutes, where the masseur tenderly massages your leg, and soothes you for the journey ahead. After that, one can expect a relaxing body scrub, steam bath, and a full body massage, I have never felt so pampered before and I was thoroughly energized for the day ahead. Seriously, I have never appreciated a massage more, as I could feel the deep relaxing benefits, after the road trip.
One’s beauty and grooming stopover at the Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur will not be complete without visiting Truefitt and Hill. This is the place for a hot lather shave, haircut, and shoe shine for that special engagement!
For over two centuries, Truefitt & Hill has provided discerning gentlemen with only the finest in grooming products and services. Established in 1805, we maintain the world’s oldest barbershop and are barbers and Royal Warrant holders to H.R.H., The Duke of Edinburgh. Today’s product offering is the result of our nearly 200 years of research and intimate customer relationships.
We went into the shop, and we were greeted by Ashkan. Our Iranian Model who used to Model Part-time, not only looked the part of a high end English Barber, but he was warm and friendly as well. Through our conversations, I found out that he has not just snipped the hair of numerous Sultans, but also the hair of Singapore’s Prime Minister as well!
Besides the great service at this barber, Truefitt and Hill ensures the utmost hygiene standards, with every single item used for haircuts, shaves, manicures and pedicures being double sterilised. They are pre-packed in pouches so when the customer is served, the items are opened in front of the customer so they know it is clean.
Very often, Patrons who visit this Barber grabs a cigar and whiskey with his own lounge jacket, and soaks in the English style within the “Smoke House” of the The Majestic Hotel KL. Complete with a Cards Room, Cigar Room and a Lounge and Bar, this is the true British Experience. Personally, I have never experienced something like this before, and it was a definite eye-opener, and one for the bucket list!
Stay Tuned as we introduce more about the The Majestic Hotel in Part 2 of our write-up!
Special Thanks to Kia Cars and Nikon Cameras which sponsored the Kia Sorento and the Nikon DSLR 610 for the trip.
