Time with the family is always precious, and with our tight schedules, flying the whole family overseas can get quite costly. For the uninitiated, Grand Park City Hall, is an architectural gem occupying a prime spot in Singapore’s Old Civic District. With its harmonious integration of century-old shop houses, the Hotel’s modern architectural style has won it a prestigious Architectural Heritage Award.  Located  just a stone’s throw from the local subway station, this Hotel is an ideal base for the young or seasoned traveller.

With the Hotel’s invitation, we had the privilege to try out their Staycate Program, which was targeted at young families. With the kids in mind, Grand Park Hotel provided that extra touch, to ensure that they feel at home.

Check out the Bright and Cheerful bed sheets that greeted the kids, when they checked into their room. This got the kids squealing in delight!

From a kid’s table loaded with drawing kits, soft toys and other children’s accessories, the kids loved the fact that the room was made specially for them.  With all the bright colours and cuddly playthings, the kids were immediately ready to have a great time!   Coupled with the adjoining rooms for Parents and Children, the 2 rooms provided more than enough space for our family of 5.

As the Grand Park Hotel aims to look after every family during their staycation, the intimate look into the family continues into the bathroom. From a children’s potty, a baby wash basin to bathrobes for kids, we felt the finer touch of the hotel in the hotel room. The kids loved the bathrobes, as they did not have to feel their way through oversized robes after playing in the tub.

Smack right in the city, there are lots of eateries around for locals and tourists alike. From fast food restaurants like McDonalds and KFC, one can also find local food courts which offer a host of local delicacies.

In fact, just downstairs, in the hotel lobby, one can literally “Indulge” in the local offerings from its Seafood Buffet. The kids definitely had a blast as they made their rounds around the buffet table!

Besides the many food outlets around the Park Hotel, one can also find the convenience of great shopping around the Hotel’s vicinity. If you are looking for cameras, pcs or audio products, the famed Funan Centre is just around the corner. This is the bargain technology Super-mart of Singapore, and many locals frequent this mall for a good buy! Just across the road at the “Adelphi”, audiophiles will find the high-end shops for audio enthusiasts.

For the history buff, the Grand Park City Hall is surrounded by the Singapore Parliament, the National Museum of Singapore and some of the oldest churches in the city. This is where the city began, and tourists will love the fact, that all these monuments and buildings are all within walking distance of the hotel. In fact, with the oldest Fire Station just opposite the Hotel, one can always bring the kids to visit the Fire Station on an early Saturday morning, and get them to experience first hand, the life of a fireman.
