Making a brief stopover in Manila, and looking to stay near the airport? The Conrad Manila maybe just the perfect oasis for tired travellers. Recently, we celebrated our Wedding Anniversary in the Philippines, and we had a chance to enjoy the 5 star luxury of Conrad Hotel for ourselves! 🙂

Hilton has just recently made an impact in the Philippines, and we were excited to review the newly opened Conrad Hotel. Located near the airport , next to the biggest Mall in Manila (Mall of Asia) and coupled with a scenic view of the Manila Bay, the Conrad Manila has much to offer Business and Family travellers.

Upon reaching Conrad Manila, we realized that the hotel had one of the most revolutionary designs along the Manila Bay. Housed in a futuristic building which resembled  a “spaceship”, holiday makers with be glad to know that the hotel is surrounded by many restaurants and retail shops. If you need to buy a present for a loved one or a quick bite, travellers will be spoilt for choice.

Walking into the main lobby, we were once again welcomed by the warm hospitality of the Conrad Team. With plush furnishings integrated into a modern design, the modern lobby doubles up as a great meeting point, to connect with business friends and acquaintances.

On this trip, we checked into the Bay View King Deluxe Room. This 40 square metres room is adequately sized and equipped with a hydrotherapy shower, 42-inch TV and most importantly; a great view of the Bay.

Each room comes equipped with a sofa area, where one can just pick up a book, and enjoy the picturesque view of the Manila Bay. Being a bookworm, my wife enjoyed this area the most, as she spent many moments, reading her novels, and enjoying the Philippine Sun.

If you don’t intend on leaving the room, the room comes equipped with an Espresso Machine, and a fully-stocked mini bar. From wines to a cup of English Breakfast tea, everything is available within the functional hotel room. 

One of the perks of staying at Conrad Manila is the healthy breakfast offered by the Hotel. With many of us getting older and becoming more conscious about our diets, the health bar offered at every breakfast buffet, is a real blessing to the both of us.

To start off the day, the breakfast gurus at Conrad, offer their own DIY yoghurts, detox juices, and all the necessary nuts and prunes that one needs in order to start a healthy day. The healthy buffet was a real treat for us, as we got to sample many differing offerings, which provide the essential minerals, for an energy packed day. 

Normally, one might feel overwhelmed with the many foreign choices offered to guests. However, the ever helpful Conrad Staff are quick to suggest a selection, as one starts off the day. As we surveyed the morning drinks, the Kitchen staff was quick to offer the benefits of each morning detox drink, and helping us with our selection! 🙂

Next up, we checked out the free range eggs, cheeses and the assortment of breads at the breakfast table! There was a large array of Jams available, which added that extra oomph to the freshly baked buns. We just loved the variety at the breakfast table, and we had no regrets waking up a little earlier, to savour our morning delights. 🙂

One highlight of the morning meal is the breakfast menu offered to guests. If you are tired of walking up and down the buffet line, you can just sit back and be served. Conrad offers a special “Breakfast of the day” specially curated by the chef, where you can opt for traditional favourites like waffles or Eggs benedict.  Our early morning tradition, whenever we check into a Hotel, is to check out their Eggs benedict, and we were so glad that Conrad, had just what we wanted on the menu. Yummy….Looking at the photo, just makes me hungry again! 🙂 

One of the great things about Conrad Manila is that it is surrounded by shopping malls. Although it is not located within the Makita district, the hotel has a linkway, that joins the hotel with the largest Mall in Manila and the SMX Convention centre. The “Mall of Asia” offers cinemas, restaurants and retail outlets, that will satisfy every shopaholic. Needless to say, my wife and myself the maximised the shopping options presented to us, and we walked past our quota of 10,000 steps in a day 🙂

Our day could not have been more relaxing, as we had the option to utilize the luxury Spa within the Hotel. We visited the spa for a couples’ massage, before we got a much-needed rest, from a hectic day of shopping 😉

The Best thing about Our Conrad Experience?

We must say that Conrad truly excels in their service.  As normal guests, we were asking one of the staff at our breakfast among moving around in the city. We enquired about transportation and the “Must See” sights within Manila.  We got the information that we wanted, and we thought that was the end of the conversation.

About 10 minutes later, the same staff came back to us with a surprise package. He printed out a suggested itinerary coupled with pictures of the sights that we should visit at our first stop within the city. We were sincerely touched and surprised by his service level, as we have never experienced such service, in any other 5 Star Hotel! Thumbs up to the team from Conrad Manila, for providing us with extraordinary service.
