ChengZhu Mandarin Centre

Enrichment Classes should be fun as Kids learn BEST through play. Recently, Nathan had the privilege of bring invited by Julia Gabriel for classes at Chengzhu Mandarin Centre.
Located at Rochester Mall, ChengZhu Mandarin Centre was set up by Julia Gabriel in November 2011. With Julia Gabriel’s 12 years of experience in Mandarin, ChengZhu was started to create a wholly Chinese Environment where families could be immersed in both the Chinese language and Culture.
In line with the centres emphasis of learning through play, the centre is not dressed up like a Chinese Imperial Hall Instead there are lots of slides and toys for the kids to play with.
Nathan also loved the ChengZhu library, as he has developed a habit of borrowing books from the Singapore National Library. Each child is allowed to borrow 1 book every week, and with the thoughtful layout, Nathan just loved walking in to browse
Lastly, as Chinese is such an important language to pick up in Singapore, we have tried a few language centres previously. However, what stuck in our first visit to this centre were the teachers.
Normally, at dismissal, parents expect to just pick up their kids after each session. However, about 5 minutes before “Pick Up” time, I noticed a crowd gathering outside each studio.
The Chinese Teachers would then give a debrief about this week’s lesson, and they would even inform the parent about the words which the kids learned and the new Vocabulary taught as well.
This quick debrief was really helpful, as it armed me with information that I could quickly revise with Nathan as we were walking to the car. What a breath of fresh air as compared to other language centres!
If you are looking for an enrichment centre for your kids, do check out ChengZhu Mandarin Centre. I am sure that you can find a program that suits your kids!
