Everyone loves a good high tea! However, if you are looking for something more than the usual cakes and pastries, the Regent Singapore may be just what you are looking for! With offerings such as Wagyu Beef, Laksa and Roasted Salmon in XO sauce, afternoon high tea at the Regent is a full meal that will satisfy any hungry diner.
The Weekend High Tea Buffet at the Regent Singapore is one of the most popular “Things to do at the Regent Singapore”. Already boasting of Award Winning restaurants such as the famous Italian Basilico and the Chinese Summer Palace, the Weekend High Tea at the Tea Lounge, is another great dining option for all guests. It is so well-received by Singaporeans that the Regent Hotel offers 2 seatings (12pm and 3pm) to cater to the ever increasing traffic for the High Tea.
Recently, we were invited to sample the Weekend High Tea for ourselves, and we left the hotel tremendously satisfied. Check out what we had and you will understand why.
To start off, instead of the usual sandwiches and pastry, the Regent High Tea has a spread that is equivalent to a full meal. Therefore, don’t just expect jam and scones, as this is a meal which requires you to skip breakfast and dinner, in order to make room in your tummy. If you are heading straight for the mains, how about sampling some Roasted Wagyu beef , Roasted Duck or Roasted Salmon in XO sauce. Simply a divine combination for High Tea! 🙂
If you are not into meats, and you prefer something more traditional, my pick goes to the traditional Laksa. The curry broth was delicious, and I had no problems going for seconds. Together with the Satay, the local favorites were simply a delight.
The Prawn Porridge served at this High Tea stole our hearts. The Sous Chef who was really friendly told us he took more than a day to boil the porridge, as he wanted to get the sweetness out of the broth. It was definitely time well spent, as the porridge was delicate and sweet. Simply exceptional, we went back to the buffet table a few times to savor the richness of the porridge. The queue for this dish, was a testament to how it played to the palettes of each patron.
And to end your meal, there is a large buffet table of desserts, that will satisfy your sweet cravings. From lemon meringue tarts, chocolate eclairs, green tea tiramisu, macaroons, to waffles and pancakes, there is a large selection for anyone.
The Weekend High Tea at the Regent is always well received, so do make reservations at least a week in advance to avoid disappointment.
