ACT 3 Drama Academy

As a family, we love to go for dramas and musicals! Daddy was bitten by the “acting bug” in his younger days, and therefore we will love for the kids to be comfortable on stage as well! In Singapore, Children’s drama is always associated with ACT 3. I remember going to MPH as a small boy, and watching the founders of ACT 3 in action! Well! ACT 3 has grown since the early days and now they have a drama academy.

Just last week, we were invited to the ACT 3 Drama Academy, to sample an exclusive Drama workshop for ourselves. Frankly, we love to go for these events, as through the exposure, we hope to nurture confident children, who are able to find their voice on stage. We were therefore excited to go for the drama sampler, except that this particular event came with a twist. Parents were invited to join in as well! 🙂 Yes! Most parents, are relegated to “Ah mads”, as we chauffeur our kids to their enrichment classes. But at this ACT 3 class, we were put into an adult drama class for 20 mins, and given time to explore our own creativity.

And how was it?

It was great fun, as Daddy and Mummy have not acted silly without the kids for a long time. It was definitely great fun going through the same exercises that our kids went through, and doing it together with other parents. When we joined back our kids 20 minutes later, they were already “warmed up” and ready to act out their roles! 🙂

I can safely declare that the teachers did a great job in “loosening” up the kids. The evidence can be seen in these photos. When the instructor asked for volunteers, check out their fun poses!

Even our normally reserved kids were really getting into the roles, as they were asked to play monsters! Nathan certainly enjoyed biting his little victim.

Besides the fun and games which was creatively orchestrated by our drama instructor, our whole family just enjoyed having fun with each other.
