Limoncello Pizza and Grill

Media Invite

Mother’s day is just round the corner, and recently we were invited to Limoncello Pizza and Grill to sample their Mother’s Day Menu. If you love authentic Italian food, Limoncello should be one of the top restaurants on your list. Recognized by the Italian embassy as one of the 20 odd Italian Restaurants in Singapore to use authentic Italian ingredients, we were definitely looking forward to dining at Limoncello Pizza.

Located in Robertson Quay, Limoncello is owned and helmed by Chef Fabio Iannone, who is a native of the Amalfi Coast. As a chef and owner, he takes great pride in food preparation and the maintenance of standards. The crowd at the restaurant therefore demonstrates the following that Limoncello has with the expat community.

We were invited to review the Mother’s day menu at Limoncello’s and here’s a sneak peek at what they are offering:

Patrons will be glad that the meal comes with a Welcome Drink, 2 Antipasti Starters, a choice between 2 main courses, and also a choice between 2 desserts. For those who are hungry, here are the yummy details:

 1) Portobello Al Tartufo

Oven baked Portobello mushroom with sautéed spinach and truffle sauce.  We love mushrooms, and we felt that this was a great way to start the meal. Together with the truffle infused into the cream,  gives the whole dish a distinct taste,

2) Sauté Vongole

Clams sautéed with white wine sauce. The dish gives off a whiff of the sea, complemented by the aromatic smell of butter and white wine.  The fresh clams are brought in from Vietnam as they are very fresh and much sweeter than clams from other countries. The clams tasted good but I would have preferred fatter meat.

3) Main Course A: Fettuccine Con Frattaglie di Wagyu

Fettuccine with mushrooms and sliced wagyu beef in natural juice. Organic fettuccine is used for this dish, and it is done al-dente–the perfect texture for a dish such as this. The porcini mushrooms used provides a hint of tartness which adds a bit of character to this flavourful dish. Together with the slices of wagyu beef, it adds a fragrant savoury taste to the natural juices used to flavour the dish.

4) Main Course B:  Branzino Al Sale

This dish presents a deliciously moist and tender fish that is baked gently to bring out the fresh flavour of the sea. Coated with rock salt which lends a gentle flavour without overpowering the taste of the fish.

5) Dessert A: Limoncello Cake

This dessert presents a cake with liqueur, almonds and white chocolate. Warm and buttery, this dessert is a welcoming change for an after-meal treat. Infused with limoncello liqueur, the cake is not too sweet and it had us hungering for more. We loved it, and you can purchase the whole cake at the deli, if you want more! 🙂

6) Dessert B: Tiramisu

Ladyfingers dipped in espresso and amaretto with Mascarpone Cheese. This Tiramisu is good and coffee lovers will love the balance between amaretto and espresso. I am not a coffee drinker but this Tiramisu is better than most cakes I have tasted.

or

SGD168++ for  2 pax (Branzino Al Sale)

And if you are game, here are some other dishes that we sampled at the restaurant, that you will need to try,

Together with a white brick oven, they specialize in wood-fired pizzas. We sampled the pizzas and they were really good. For diners, who just want to sample their pizzas and cakes, they can pop by at the restaurant’s deli to experience the Italian cuisine on a cheaper budget.

To us, the pizza, bread sticks and the calamari was super yummy. We would definitely go back for more! 🙂
