Christmas is round the corner and it is one of our favourite times of the year! So it was really timely when we were invited by ACT 3 International to review A Christmas Carol. This is a classic in the literary world and a story that all kids should know!
The drama production was performed by Dufflebag Theater Company in Canada, and they brought their own bland of creativity and humour to the show. With such a class act in town, we thought this this was a great opportunity for us to expose the kids to Charles Dickens.
Before we went, we told the kids a brief summary of the story (just in case they get very lost during the performance!) But we realized that wasn’t necessary! The production was simple to understand, and brought down to digestible bites for the kids!
We found the show funny and highly entertaining, especially when the performers started to get the audience participating. The spontaneity from the crowd was amazing, as we all laughed alone with them and at them.
I remember reading this book and to watch it brought to life by the very talented cast was a joy to watch. The kids were kept retelling the story, and each time adding new details to the story. It was clear it was an unforgettable show.
