Tao Seafood Asia Review (Giveaway)

When it comes to a Family dinner or a Business lunch, we are always on the lookout for good restaurants. Conveniently located in the Marina Bay Financial area and a short walk from the MRT station, Tao Seafood Asiaย serves Chinese Food with a Spicy Thai twist. When it comes to good food without an “Over the top” budget, Tao Seafood Asia comes to mind.

The restaurant has found fans among the media and food critics, and according to The Straits Times (Dec 29,2014), Tao Seafood Asia stands out in the mid sized category with some worthy quotes:

“Among the few seafood restaurants that opened this year, Tao Seafood Asia stands out with some dishes that are so good, they stay in your mind”

A restaurant is only as good as it’s chef! And Tao Seafood comes with high credentials! Helmed by Executive Chef Lee Tong Kuon, the former executive chef and co-owner of the Thai Village Holdings Ltd (located at Indoor Stadium and Goodwood Park Hotel), Tao Seafood comes armed with power-packed credentials. Together with his son Adrian Lee, this father and son team comes ready offer something different to Singapore foodies.

Specializing in Thai-Teochew Cuisine, the restaurant will strike a chord with all food lovers for love something spicy with their Teochew food. This hidden gem of Asia Square Towers specialises in cuisine where gourmets can gather for the best of culinary creations, the most robust of flavours and the freshest of quality ingredients, and also a seafood heaven where celebrants can gather for milestone, jubilees, daily triumphs or simply, good food.

Our family was invited for a sampling of their menu, and these are the signature dishes that we got to try:

chinese appertisers

First off, we got to sample the famous appertisers at Tao Seafood Asia. The Crispy Enoki Mushroomย was a hit with the kids. Deep-fried to a crispy and fluffy perfection, its golden brown shade reminds one of French Fries. The Kids were happy to devour these golden brown delicacies, as they came complemented with a generous dose of quality white truffle oil for that extra fragrance.

Another favorite with many guests is theย Crispy Fish Skin with Salted Egg Sauce.ย The deep fried eel skin is refried with TAO‘sย special salted egg sauce that makes it a great finger food, as your appetite is whet for something more. The 2 appertisers are definitely great alternatives, compared to the traditional peanuts which you get at a Chinese restaurant.

fish maw soup
2) TAO Signature Soup with Premium Fish Maw and Crabmeat
Up next was the soup! As an alternative to Sharks fin, theย fragrant and thick-in-textureย chicken noble brewย is paired with premium New Zealandย Fish Maw, giving the soup a rich taste that sat well with our palete. We loved the taste and the kids were busy slurping up every ounce of the soup, ย that is rich in collagen.
tao seafood beancurd
3)ย “Coral” Beancurd with Seafood and Salmon Roe

Silky soft beancurd, freshly made by the chefs daily, this dish is served with juicy prawnย andย fresh crab meat in an egg white sauce and topped with delicious salmon roe, making this dish both a visual and tasty delight for all. If you love Beancurd, you will have no complaints about this dish.

ย white pepper crab
5. White Pepper Crab (NEW)

Normally, people order chili or black pepper crabs. However, Tao Seafood’s rendition of White Pepper Crab is “pepper-ly delicious”. The new creation only usesย daily delivered quality Sri Lankanย crabs,ย pure ground white pepper and other spices to concoct the heady-scentedย TAO-must-have. We devoured the crabs and there was none left! ๐Ÿ™‚

prawns with noodles
6.ย Pot Roasted Sea Prawns with Glass Noodles

This unforgettableย Thai Teochewย favourite isย prepared in aย metal pot over a specially designed set of open fire stoves. According to the Tao Seafood, the sauce and soup baseย are cooked withย the prawns and glass noodles repeatedlyย tillย it absorbs every last bit of flavor.Servedย immediatelyย within the metal pot to retain its aroma and “wok-hei”, this dish was something the kids loved.

tao desserts

And lastly these were the many yummy desserts that we go to mention. One dessert that stands out is their “Orh Nee”. A teochew favorite, this spoonful of sticky yam paste, is sweet to the taste, and it is something that yam paste lovers should order.

Overall, with the large restaurant space, and the many private rooms which the restaurant offers, Tao Seafood is a great place to bring your friends and partners. The service was thoughtful and we had a great time meeting Executive Chef Lee, and fellowshipping ย with Adrian.
