How to check your baby’s diaper
After our last post on Random Lists of what is Parenting, I was curious if my parenting experiences were the same as every one else. Are there differences between Man and Women? Do Fathers and Mothers check the baby’s diapers differently? We decided to take a survey and find out how do parents check baby’s diaper.
So, here goes the first Edunloaded Parenting Poll:
How do you check if your baby poo-ed?
I looked around and noticed that Daddies and Mummies have different styles. Then after much observation, it seems it’s a Mars and Venus difference. Cos Mummies, Grandmas and Domestic helpers do it one way, while Daddies & Grandpas do it another way.
The options I listed earlier are:
a. Touch or rather press and squeeze (don’t ask me why) the front of diaper to check if it’s full.
b. Put your nose to the buttocks area to smell (only works if your child did a major smelly poo)
c. Lift the diaper in the following spots to see:
This is what I observed:
Male caregivers- Option B. They trust their sense of smell absolutely. It’s instinctive to them to put the nose to the butt!
Female caregivers- Option C. They want to see it to believe it.
So if you’re a parent, how do YOU do it? If you are not, have you seen how others do it? Leave a comment below and we’ll see if there’s really a Mars and Venus to checking diapers!
