Bloggers’ Choice Awards

It’s the time of the year again, where I will need to call upon your help!

In 2008, Ed Unloaded was awarded 2nd place in the Hottest Daddy Category for the Blogger’s Choice Awards.

Being an International Competition, which gives recognition to Blogs according to popular vote, I would like to ask for a favour from all my loyal readers.

Do click on the icons below and sign up for a account. From there, you can proceed to vote for the Blog.

My site was nominated for Best Parenting Blog! My site was nominated for Hottest Daddy Blogger!

If you have voted in this competition before, the accounts are still valid, and you can continue to use your previous accounts.

Although there are no prizes for being 1st in this competition, but it is always encouraging to be recognised as an authority in the Blogging Arena.

Do help, as I continue to write in faith, and take on the uncharted waters in this blogging community. This Blog is my little contribution to the Cultural Mandate, as we make ourselves more relevant to the world, and hopefully becoming a voice in a virtual community.

Blog Editor

I just got a Macbook through the promotion offered by Singtel, and I am currently trying to get used to it. Being an avid Blogger, one of the first softwares that I looked out for a useful Blog editor.

An essential software on the PC, is this Blog editor called Windows Live Writer.

Produced by Windows, this program is heaven’s gift for all Bloggers. The normal Blog editors supplied by Blogger and WordPress are not only NON user-friendly, but also provide editing headaches.

What I dislike about WordPress, is that, it is totally unfriendly when u want to add videos and pictures. The interface is also more unfriendly as compared to Blogger!

With the Windows Live Writer, you have a WYSWYG (What you see is what you get) editor.

If u want to add videos or pictures, all you need to do is to use the insert functions, and you can add the videos seamlessly. I have had no problems using it with YouTube and Vimeo.

You don’t need any knowledge in coding in using this program and best of all…

It’s FREE!

If you are a blogger on the PC, you have got to try out Windows Live Writer!

Switching to the Mac, I thought that I would find a better or an equivalent program!

The Mac is often touted as a lifestyle PC, and more suited and more customised to the everyday user.

Well, it definitely has a short start-up time as compared to the pc, but in terms of Blogging Editors, it is definitely one generation behind.

The best program that they can offer, which incidentally does NOT come FREE, is called Blogo.

Costing US $25 dollars, the interface looks classy but it pales in performance as compared to Windows Live Writer.

When you insert a picture, you do not get to see the graphic until you go to preview or publish. Instead all you see is a black box!

When inserting a video, you have to paste it in the HTML editor, and not via a simple insert plugin, as found in the Windows Live Writer.

Blog editing screen view is also smaller, with a lot of unnecessary tables around.

Apple should definitely look into this issue, if it wants to be touted as a lifestyle computer! I mean, nearly everyone from generation Y and  Z has a blog at some time of their lives!

Meanwhile, I am still trying to get used to the Mac, and I hope that the other programs prove to be a more appealing adventure.

What Blogging editors do you guys use? If there is a better editor out there, please let me know! :)

Restore Deleted Photos

Just recently I accidentally deleted some of my photos in my hard disk.

What happens if the photos cannot be found in the recycle bin?

Can you still retrieve those precious baby photos? Can you restore deleted Photos?

Birthday Por

Before you panic, there is good news for all you parents out there!

Pictures speak a thousand words, and I can’t imagine losing photos like these!

Please don’t fret, as anything is possible in this computer world.

Well, I went to download.com and I found this program called Pandora Recovery

This program is highly rated by the CNET editors as well as users alike (Gets a near 5 star rating)

cnet pandora recovery

Best of all, this program is TOTALLY FREE!

It can not only retrieve photos from your hard disk, but also from your SD/CF cards as well. Therefore, even if you overwrite your photos in your SD card, you can still retrieve them!

Just how powerful is this program?

Currently, I use a company notebook. When I took over the notebook a year ago, I deleted away the previous users photos.

Guess what?

After using the program, I saw the previous user’s photos and any photos before that as well.

What’s more – you don’t need to be a computer genius to use this program. The interface is simple and easy to use.

So no need to key in any codes, or interface with any funny and weird symbols :)

It is no wonder that the computer geeks can retrieve anything from your notebook.

Remember the series “Prison Break”, the FBI was still able to retrieve information from Scofield’s Hard Disk, despite the fact that he had thrown it in the river!

Well, the good side is that – don’t despair!

We may make mistakes, but the photos are still retrievable.
