Westgate Shopping Mall

Advertorial

Family friendly malls are always important for kids! Located just next to Jurong East MRT station, Westgate is one of the many malls that can be found in the bustling Jurong East City Center. Westgate is an enclave of fun for families, as it has something to offer for every family member.

If you are wondering what makes Westgate so special, allow me to show you why! As someone who spends most of his “shopping” time in the Orchard area, Westgate surprised me with their “Westgate Wonderland”. Located on level 4, Westgate boasts of the largest rooftop playground in the whole of Singapore. This FREE playground is equipped with a 10 metre high Tree House, which offers kids many levels of fun, as they explore the labyrinth of slides and obstacles surrounding the complex.

Upon entering the playground, one is brought into a magical forest with larger than life flowers and other magical creatures.

Touch the magical flowers, and they light up with a magical chime. The kids let their imagination run wild, as they created as many melodies as they can, with the range of notes offered to them.

If your kids are not afraid of heights, they can expand their energy by hopping onto the mini rock climbing wall located next to the trail. The girls are always filled with a sense of adventure, and they could not wait to get their paws on the handles and nooks.

Westgate Wonderland does not just have slides for the kids, but has a “wet play” area as well. Don’t worry about the kids getting wet, as the mall provides a shower area for the kids to wash up and change as well. We went to the Westgate Wonderland on a weekend, and the whole area was packed with grandparents, parents and kids. This is a testament to the success of the playground and the “fun factor” of the mall.

But wait…the fun does not stop there! If you feel that you want a playground that offers a bit more privacy, Westgate has something more to offer visitors as well. Located at the rooftop (level 5) of the shopping mall is the Westgate Kids Club.

Westgate Kids Club is an interactive playground designed for children aged 2-12. The great thing about the Kids Club is that it allows parents to drop off their kids here while they shop in peace, knowing that the kids are engaged in a variety of fun activities. I think the ad tells it all! 🙂

Upon entering the club, my kids were first off to the private rooftop playground. Nathan was first off to the trampoline, and the kids loved all the space that they could find.

Parents will be glad to know that every weekend, there is a Kids Club Weekend Workshop. Held on Saturdays and Sundays, at 3pm and 6pm, kids get to participate in games and make crafts. Through supervision from the Adventure Captains, the kids got to learn how to make a Captain America shield.

The theme of the Kids Club Weekend Workshop changes every month, and in June, kids will get to go on a prehistoric adventure and make dinosaur face masks as well as party hats! Here is a list of the upcoming activities and some of the stuff that they will be making! 🙂

And while the kids were busy completing their artwork, Daddy and Mummy had a chance to walk around the mall for some “couple time”. The 4th floor of the mall is a designated kid’s floor where one can find many kids related outlets. From tuition centers to children activity outlets, there is just something for everyone. We walked around and we found popular outlets like “My Gym” (#04-39), “The Learning Lab” (#04-33), “Yamaha Music School” (#04-40), “The Ballet School” (#04-10), “Mindchamps Reading & Writing” (#04-16/17), and other outlets like “I Love Learning Achievement Centre” (#04-09) and  “BabySPA” (#04-34). There are also many dining options in Westgate like “Crystal Jade Kitchen” (#04-42), “Miam Miam” (#01-21/22), “PAUL” (#01-05) and other fast food options. There is simply something for everyone at Westgate!

When we went back to the Kid’s Club to find the kids, they were ready to show us their new creations! From their poses, I guess you can tell who loves their shields more!

If your kids are not into handicraft, you will be glad to know that the Westgate Kids club offers a weekly movie night on Thursdays and story telling night on Fridays to help entertain the kids. The great news is that if you spend $60 at Westgate, Jcube or IMM, you are entitled to get 1 FREE entry into the club. Parents can shop for groceries or other necessities, knowing that the kids are well taken care of by the kids club. If you are spending $250 or more at the malls, patrons can also get a 6 Month Membership at the Westgate Kids Club for FREE. Do head over to Westgate for more details.

And just for this Great Singapore Sale season, there are some special activities for every shopper. With every $60 spent, shoppers get a chance to participate in the “Where’s Wesley?” Lucky Draw. From the mural on the wall, shoppers have to count the number of Wesley cats that they can find.

It was definitely quite a sight watching the kids run up and down, counting the cats, and recounting again to make sure that they were right. The good news is that Westgate makes the contest even easier, by narrowing down the choices for every shopper. Nathan guessed that there were 35 Cats! Who knows, he might be the winner who will walk away with the Grand Prize of a Hyundai Santa Fe 2.4 Auto 7 Seater worth $90,500 (excludes COE).

Besides the “Where’s Wesley?” Lucky Draw, kids will also be in for a special treat! When shoppers spend $100, their kids can enter the bounce area, where they can have a go at the “Megabounce” or “Crazybounce” trampoline rides with each ticket worth $10.

And for those of us who love to snap away with our smartphones! There is another contest for all shoppers, which requires simple creativity using 3D pictures. Like the pictures found in the famous Korean “Trick Eye” museums, shoppers can find 5 Trickart pictures installed at different levels of the mall. Each Trickart comes with suggested locations for the cameraman! My kids were really “enthu” about their shots, and they could not wait to pose for the camera! 🙂

And there is a simple contest for all shoppers!

From now till 28 June, upload a photo or photo collage of the Trickart pieces located at B2, B1, L2, L3 and L4 and stand a chance to win up to $100 CapitaVouchers. Hashtag each photo entry with #westgatefantasy and the hashtag reflecting the Trickart’s exact location (e.g. #westgateB2). Have Fun!
