World Class children’s theatre is back in town! KidsFest 2106 is back in Singapore, and it is once again committed to create and promote a wide variety of performance styles from all corners of the world. If you are looking for some constructive and fun family time, KidsFest provides a golden opportunity for one to encourage the love of theatre in the next generation.

Since the inaugural event in 2012, KidsFest has grown, and this year, there will be 6 different productions over 4 weeks at SOTA Drama Theatre.  Productions will be running from Jan 21 – Feb 14, with each production differing on their performance dates. As a family, we will be heading to SOTA in the month of February for “Ï believe in Unicorns”.

If you are wondering what the production is all, “I believe in Unicorns” is based on the book by best-selling children’s author Michael Morpurgo. Set in a library full of books that hold more than stories within their pages. It is a tale of the power of books, and the bravery of a young boy called Tomas. Tomas hates reading and school, but his world is turned upside down the day he meets the Unicorn Lady in his local library… An enchanting and interactive production, I Believe in Unicorns, which won an Argus Angel Award for Artistic Excellence at Brighton Festival, sparks imagination in both young and old. We challenge you not to believe in unicorns after joining Tomas’ spellbinding journey.

This production is suited for children aged 6 and above and their families, and the running time is approximately 55 minutes with no interval.

For selected show dates and times, the audience can meet the talented people behind the show up close in special meet and greet sessions, or enjoy the photo wall, photobooth and free face painting at a selection of performances as well!

Snow Child is a touching story of a lonely couple who built a small figure from snow, and wish very, very hard… until the strength of their longing brings a magical snow child to life before their eyes! But this defining moment of magic happens at the beginning of the story. What comes after the happy ending, when winter gives way to spring and summer, will the Snow Child and her parents find their happily ever after? At its heart, Snow Child is about the challenges faced by both parents and children when a child is different. And after all, every child is different in his or her own way…
