Pinocchio – Telling Lies
I was trying to explain the concept of lying to Nicole last week…but I did not know that she was way ahead of me. Parenting involves one tackling of concept of whether it is alright for one to lie to a child. Is a White lie a lie, or is it essential for a child’s developmental growth. Do we need to hide and isolate our children from harsh realities and tell the convenient lie to ensure that reality is hidden from them.
These are issues that we parents must face, but fortunately this was a false alarm. Fortunately, my 4yo was not engaging me on this subject matter, but instead she was just developing a healthy sense of humor and tackling simpler issues! 🙂
It seems that they have been talking about lying in School.
How do i know that?
I was telling Nicole:
Dad: We can’t lie right, or else our noses will grow longer (Kind of ironic isn’t it…)
Dad: Do you know about the boy, whose nose grew longer when he lied?
Nic: Yes Daddy! You are talking about the wooden boy…
Dad:Yes…Pinocchio!
Nic: Pino-cole! Haha…Pino-nicole!!! If i lie, i become Pino-cole!
🙂 that cracked Daddy up…I am so glad that she has got a sense of humor! and we are not going to tackle this issue at this point of time. I can still relax and enjoy my princess growing up! 🙂
