Dream Academy: Crazy Christmas

Dream Academy is back this December with another rendition of Crazy Christmas! Entitled “Ä Ground NUTCRACKER”, expect lots of laughter and good cheer, as you join the crazy gang at the Esplanade Theater. The Usual Suspects are being lined up to usher in the Yuletide cheer, with the cast including the Dim Sum Dollies, Broadway Beng, Kumar and Dr TCM TCM Judee Tan, among many others.

If you are wanting to ease yourself into the Christmas Mood, Dream Academy has just the fix for you. Expect a fun night, where the music, dance and comedy routines will keep you laughing through the show.  They do what they do best, poking fun at the current issues of the day! We couldn’t stop laughing as the cast brought back favorite routines revolving around the “foreign talent” issue and our absolute favourite was Pam Oei’s Stand up comedy about her Hong Kong Bat Man. Her gorgeous Cantonese accent was really the Best!

And as with all Dream Academy’s production, they did one on the talk of the town–Star Wars! I wish I can tell you more without revealing any spoilers. You’ve to trust me that it was hilarious!

As usual Kumar and Broadway Beng, bring that extra local dimension to whole production, and Kumar’s spontaneous sense of humor will bring a smile to the face of any Chinese Boy! 🙂

Although there were a few technical difficulties with the sound equipment on the night, the transitions were seamless, and the local accapella group “Vocaluptuous”, were entertaining as they whipped up the Christmas Tunes with their voices.

With Dream Academy celebrating their 15th birthday,  the cast goes down to the grassroots level by bringing in the young talents from Nanyang Primary School, as well as the Golden Seniors from Hendersen Senior Activity Centre. It is always heartwarming to see the young ones singing familiar Cantonese tunes and seniors grooving to a Top 40 hit! This item definitely added to the “Feel Good” factor with the whole production. 
If you have not seen a production by Dream Academy before, you have to head on down to the Esplanade theatre and catch these guys for yourself. This comedy act will definitely entertain!
