CulinaryOn
Media Invite
CulinaryOn is the modern day answer to MasterChef! With Singapore being such a food paradise, Cooking studios and cooking classes are the new rage. Together with its added ability to nurture team building among individuals, CulinaryOn seems to have a great recipe for success.
Located in upmarket Raffles Place, CulinaryOn is ideally located for all corporate events and parties. Staffed with professional chefs and instructors, this cooking studio is set to lift culinary standards at all your cooking parties. Being new on the children’s scene in SIngapore, we did not know what to expect, when we were invited to their studios. However, we definitely liked what we saw at CulinaryOn.
Walk into the studio, and you will be greeted by a bar, where staff are ready to prepare your favorite drinks. My kids were ready to eat, as they saw their favorite appetisers ready to greet them
For the media event, we were spilt into 2 teams. It was liken to a kids vs adults game, but we were both given equal opportunity to make our own dish from scratch. As expected, everyone was excited about the afternoon ahead! 🙂
Most cooking studios tend to be a bit small, as rentals are expensive in Cosmopolitan Singapore. However, this was not our experience at CulinaryOn. This cooking studio seems to have broken new ground, as the premises were BIG! They have a 7,000 sq ft studio, which can be subdivided into conference areas and 4 event areas. They are currently the largest cooking studio in Asia, and definitely one of the most well equipped! 🙂
As one can see, once we were seated, we still had plenty of space to move around and express our new found culinary skills. There was no clutter and bumping into their friends or colleagues.
Each class or party at CulinaryOn is slated to last for about 3-4 hours. For this invite, we were tasked to make Italian food, and we were ready to get our hands dirty. This was different from other cooking parties I have attended, as most parties use ready made pizza or spaghetti. However, at CulinaryOn, we made our pasta dough from scratch! There is a first time for everything! 🙂
As we were instructed on how to made our dough, kids and adults had to roll up their sleeves, to knead the dough from scratch. Personally, I have never made my own dough before, and whenever we cook our spaghetti at home, we just boil our spaghetti from ready-made packs. Under the watchful eye of the chef, we were more than game to get my hands dirty. You can tell that the kids really enjoyed making their dough!
Although kneading the dough proved to be tiring, the most fun part of the cooking process, when we were able to “run”our dough through the Mixers. The kids and I have seen it done on Masterchef before, and our eyes certainly brightened up, when we “rolled out” our own spaghetti.
Next up was the making of the pasta sauce and our lava cakes. The great thing about the class was that our chef was always clear in his instructions, and we were able to follow the chef at our own pace.
And the most fun part of every cooking expedition is the “feasting!” Everyone was looking forward to this aspect of the afternoon, and our creations proved to be worthy of our palettes! 🙂
I must add that the chefs were excellent in holding all of our attention. For the kids, they were listening in rapt attention, and were all on task in following instructions. And this was a group of close to 20 kids with some as young as 4!
For the adults, let’s say we all kept our phones away during the entire session because we were all following the recipe, listening to little tips and and tricks to perfecting the dish. It was a most educational and fun time for the entire family!
If you are interested in enlarging your cooking repertoire, one can also sign up for classes at CulinaryOn, and experience different menus throughout the week. Personally, we think that having birthday and corporate parties here will be a real blast, as cooking always speaks to every Singaporean’s heart.
