Giveaway: Lightseeker the Musical (Closed)
Being a fan of Dick Lee, do look out for the latest Musical at Resorts World Singapore (RWS). Besides the songs being composed and written by our famous Composer/Singer, be enthralled by veterans from West End to Emmy Award Winning Talent. Boosted by sets made from scratch, patrons will be brought into a futuristic multi-million dollar set, which brings them into another world.
Conceived by Andrea Teo who created local sitcoms like Under One Roof and Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd, the musical brings you into a fantastic and magical world which incorporates acrobats performing on stage. In the story, a General pursues a precious energy that will make his ominous Emperor more powerful. His quest leads him to Nova, an enigmatic girl, who seems to have the ability to create The Light. Therein lies the battle between Good and Evil, as the Emperor tries to subdue Nova, and how the rest of the Empire fight for survival. The Hollywood blockbuster “Avatar” seems to be the source of inspiration for the show, and there are certain aspects of that genre seen in the production.
The kids were captivated by the acrobatics in the show, and we were definitely enriched by our backstage passes. As part of the Media Invite to Lightseeker, we managed to go backstage to see some of the cast and the whole setup.

Backstage, we managed to witness how the stage was set-up and the amount of manpower needed to move the huge structures which formed the backdrop of each scene. The rehearsal room which is pictured in the collage below served not only as a de-briefing room, but also a huge rehearsal area, where the cast was able to go through their moves before an actual performance.
As we ventured backstage, we realized that there is another city behind and below the stage. The production has it’s own tailors to design, sew and maintain the costumes that are used 6 days a week. There is a gym for the cast and a physiotherapy room for tired muscles as well. The makeup room was interesting, as we saw pictures of the cast in their makeup on the wall. This is to ensure that the makeup artist remembers how each individual cast is supposed to look like for each performance.
The musical ends on 23 March 2014, and there is a 50% discount for ALL students. Just present your student pass upon purchase, and it is applicable for all local and overseas student passes. This offer applies to Cat 1 and Cat 3 tickets only.
