The Aedes Mosquito is proving to be a resistant parasite, and if you don’t already know, you can get dengue, for a total of 4 times! Yes! Totally scary eh! Many people think that in urban Singapore, Mosquitos are most probably breeding in the jungles of Mandai. However, the Aedes Mosquito actually thrives in our HDB and Private Housing estates as well! We need to be vigilant to prevent Dengue Fever and stop the Aedes Mosquito from breeding in our homes.
Yes! And in areas like your vase at home, flowerpot plates, aircon trays and in unwanted cups and bottles.
However, things are not just so simple, as these critters can get into the house, even when you are on vacation.
Many of us think that by closing toilet bowl seats, we have done our best in keeping the mosquitos out. However, research shows that we need to do more!
Besides closing toilet bowl lids, we need to seal the toilet bowls with tape as well! Yes! These bugs get into the cracks around the toilet seats, and they can still lay their eggs there. For Floor traps, besides closing the lids, we need to seal them as well!

And before you head off for that dream holiday, do ask a relative or close friend to check your home regularly for stagnant water. It’s never too late as well, to leave your contact with a neighbour that you know, so that you can be reached easily, in case something happens at home!
