Nicole’s Pre-school Performance

Last week proved to be a really exciting week for the family, as it was Nicole’s graduation performance from her Pre-school.

If you think that these graduations are still simple affairs, where you just wear your graduation gown and take a photo with a scroll (Remember that photos from your People’s Association Kindergarten), times have changed. In fact, the picture below is the simplest part of the ceremony Smile

Nicole’s graduation ceremony was at Raffles Hotel with each ticket costing $65, and we had to pay a sum of $400+ for the costumes/graduation ring/calendar.

With prices so steep, even inviting a grandma or a popo will cost us an additional $60/person.

Nicole truly loves the stage and she was really hyped up for her performance. Reporting time was at 845am, and she was up by 7am, making sure that Daddy and Mummy were not late for her performance.

Here are the the pictures of her at her combined graduation performance:

As Nicole also loves to sing and dance, she was also cast as “Mulan” and “Princess Jasmine” in the play Aladdin.

Ok…Mummy has been commenting that these photos are too masculine, so here are the photos of her as Princess Jasmine from Aladdin.

Here are more pictures of her after her performance. She was so happy, as the cameras and all the parents surrounded her.

National Day Cheer

National Day is especially memorable for the kids because they get to perform in school. As Nicole is in K2, this will be her last performance in Pre-School. For Nathan and Nadine, the performances also mark another milestone, as they are also getting bolder in their public appearances! Smile

If you can’t find Nadine in the group photo, I am sure that this collage will help you identify our little princess.

Nathan especially did us proud this year. His 1st public performance was a stark contrast to Nicole’s, who seems to thrive on the stage. Both Daddy and Mummy remember him crying through his first performance…However, this year our little boy was the MAN of the house!

Here’s a picture of him lining up together with his friends. Just some trivia, do you notice the number of kids wearing a pair of “Crocs”? I reckon that they should start sponsoring some children’s events, so that they can increase their market share!

We also had problems finding Nathan a pair of white shorts for the performance. In the end, he was wearing his boxer shorts! That’s why his shorts are shorter than the average length! Smile

A highlight for both Daddy and Mummy was that Nathan actually shook his little butt in the performance. Daddy had a Big Smile on his face, as he watched the home video of him.

And Finally we have Nicole! A veteran of public performances as compared to her siblings. As usual, she made Mummy and Daddy proud of her!

A Big Congrats to the teachers who did a great job at the performance. The best costume went to the girls from K1, who dressed up in Indian Saris.

Until the next performance..Happy National Day! Smile

Children’s Performance in School

Chinese New Year is not just a time of food and ang-pows. One of the highlights for the Tay Family, is the kids’ Chinese New Year Performance in School, and this year is extra special…As all 3 kids will be performing!

CNY Kids performance

In fact, we were quite surprised that Nadine was ready for this performance. This was only her 2nd week in school, and we were half expecting her to “Chicken out” and just break into tears on stage.

However, she definitely surprised us and her teachers, by showing us that she actually has stage presence! :)

Next up was Nathan. His performance last year was practically a non-event as he stood there and gave us a “What am I doing here look!” (Check out the photos here).

In fact, both Mummy and I were so worried about him!

Check out the Children’s Worried looks, as they waited for their turn…:)

But this year, my boy was an Academy Award Winner! He danced and moved according to the music, and it was a 180 degree turnaround from last year! (in all fairness, he still wasn’t the happiest performer around!)

And lastly, our little veteran Nicole Tay was up…I think I will let the pictures tell her story…

Thumbs Up to all the Kids for their performance! Definitely looking forward to their next one! :)

Mother’s Day Performance

As a parent, I just love it  when the kids have a recital or a performance in school. Amazingly, it stirs up a spirit within us to want to see them excel and it’s really heart-warming to see the broad smiles on every parent’s face, as they see their little darlings perform.

This May, Nicole had a Mother’s Day Recital in School! As it was only delivered by kids at her level, it was a smaller and a  more intimate experience. (Check out her other performances here)

The teacher’s really worked very hard at it as well and here is a picture of the banner that greeted us, as we entered the school. Cool right! :)

The school and classrooms were also decorated by the teachers, to deliver a Fun Party-like atmosphere!

When we entered the music room, there were lots of parents there already. Everyone was armed with a Video cam or a DSLR as we awaited the performance (If u are planning to be a parent, do get one of these optical equipment, as the memories are priceless)

I went to look for the kids before the recital started, and they were excited and ready to go…Check out their excited faces before the performance.

Nicole delivered a song and dance performance in Mandarin, and it was really touching, as our little princess sang with all her heart. She definitely gave her BEST and Daddy and Mummy were so proud of her.

After the performance, we also got to see Nicole play the piano, as she performed some of the items that she learnt in her music class.

The song items included movement and dance into the music recitals as well. (Nicole likes the dancing!)

The whole family was there as well. Grandma was especially proud of her little Maestro!

Nicole also played tour guide and showed us around her classroom.

And of course, no party will be complete without FOOD!

Looks like the kids were enjoying it more than the adults!
