The Shard London
Media Invite
The View from the Shard is the best view that you can get of London! Forget about the London eye, as the best view of the city is from the tallest building! Helmed by the famous Shangri-La brand and located just next to the Tower of London and the London bridge, the Shard is one of the “MUST VISIT” places in London. And if you are wondering where to go for a typical London Tea, the TIng might just be the perfect place for you! 🙂

As one of the famous Landmarks in the city, Shangri-La London is situated from the 34th to the 52th floor, offering guests an imposing view of the city. (The lower floors are offices) For visitors to London, one can choose to stay, dine or just visit the Shard, for an unforgettable experience at this luxurious hotel.
Conveniently located just next to the London Bridge Tube Station, guests will first face the prospect of just going up the Shard, for a view of the city. Depending on one’s schedule, one might need to undertake this option. For about £26 per adult, one can enjoy the view, with no time restriction on your visit.
If you want a bit more comfort to your visit, and maximize your viewing pleasure, how about experiencing the view together with some high tea. During Summer, one can opt for the Fortune and Mason High Tea on the 72nd level. Experience the open-air sky deck with a Fortune and Mason picnic of sandwiches and tea. (Prices start from £85 for 2 persons).
As Asians, we preferred warmer surroundings, and instead of the roof top experience, we opted for tea on level 35. We were invited to the luxurious TiNG for an afternoon of High Tea! :(Yes! It is as good as it sounds!)
TiNG, derived from the Chinese word for “living room”, is the collective name for the restaurant and lounge on level 35. Situated 128 metres above ground level, both areas offer unsurpassed views of St Paul’s Cathedral, The City of London, The Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf and other famous landmarks. (The views here are just as good, as on any other floor!)
TiNG restaurant presents a modern European menu with an Asian twist, made using the finest local market produce and crafted with meticulous attention. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it is the perfect venue for any occasion.
We had afternoon tea here, where we could choose the classically English experience (We are in London after all) and an Asian-inspired alternative, both complemented by an exclusive selection of more than 30 teas.
Guess what, both choices did not disappoint! 🙂 We loved the English scones and tea, where the butter and jams were just splendid additions to the whole High Tea experience. Although we were in London, the Asian High Tea Menu is also worth a mention, as the Dim Sum and Xiu Mai Dumplings were also deliciously enjoyable. We simply loved the experience at the Ting, and if you are looking to enjoy some English Tea in London, we would certainly pick the Ting. With the London view as a backdrop, this is a great place to simply relax and rest your tired legs, after those long walks in the museums.
Classic High Tea at the Ting start at £49 (Click for High Tea Menu at the Ting)
But if you want greater comfort, how about staying at the Shangri-la itself. Imagine waking up to this great view every morning. Find out more in our next installment at Shangri-la London: The Shard. Do stay Tuned! 🙂
