Go Kart for kids
Experience Go Kart for the whole family at Kartright Speedway! Every year F1 fever hits Singapore at the Marina Bay circuit. It is therefore understandable, that Singapore children are now avid fans of Louis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. My Son is an avid Hamilton fan, and his eyes gleamed in delight, when I told him that we were going for Go Karting in Jurong West.
Previously, I have been Go Karting in JB, Malaysia due to the cheaper prices over there. However, the go karts over there pale in comparison to the karts we have over here. In Malaysia, the go karts are poorly maintained, super noisy and vibrating all over. The tyres of the go kart are peeling, and the track is filled with worn out tyre debris. The Good News about Go Karting in Singapore, is that you get the real deal over here! 🙂
Introducing Kartright Speedway, which is Singapore’s first ever permanent competition-length karting race track. Comprising of a 750 meters long, the track is located at 511 Upper Jurong Road (Near Joo Koon MRT). Drivers are allowed to drive at night, as it is the first ever flood-light lit track in Singapore. To further satisfy the drivers’ needs for an enthralling competition, the track is constructed to be 7-metre wide so as to allow thrilling overtaking opportunities. With well maintained machines, race karts can go up to 130 km/h and the average time clocked by race per lap is 36 seconds.
With my eldest daughter being 10yo, she hit the legal age to go for a solo ride on the go kart. Check out her excitement, as she got into her car. She had no problems going for the ride on her own, and her first ride brought a smile to our faces! 🙂 She went around the track screaming her head off, as she made her turns! 🙂
The great thing about Kartright speedway is that they have these Go Karts which allow you to partner together with your children. My 7yo was in the drivers seat together with Mummy, and she had a steering wheel where she could control the vehicle. Parents are in control of the accelerator and the brakes, so one does not need to worry about going too fast, or not being able to brake. You can tell that my little one is excited! 🙂
Check out my 2 girls taking a turn together! 🙂 Definitely a great Parent and Child moment! 🙂
Mummies, do bring along Daddy for a trip to the race track. As the Go karts require lots of concentration and good arm power as there is no power steering, one does get tired after the 10 minutes round the track.
At the end of the day, Daddy made most of the rounds, around the track with the 3 kids! The kids will also prefer that, as they were quick to point out that Daddy goes faster as well! 🙂
In case you are wondering, safety is never compromised at Kartright Speedway. The track is surrounded with approximately 4,000 tyres as safety walls to cushion the impact of collisions. Kartright Speedway marshals are also deployed at all times to render assistance in times of a breakdown or an incident. In fact, as we waited for our turns, and when the adults took to the track, we witnessed a few spins, as 1 or 2 drivers lost control, as they tried to drift on the track.
At the end of the day, the Go Kart experience is truly a family memory, and Daddy was definitely glad he did it! 🙂
