Camp Asia: Cooking Classes for Kids

My Family are BIG Fans of Master Chef! There is something about food that resonates with the whole family! We just love watching the contestants, taking raw ingredients, moving expertly in the kitchen, and churning out great food. Accompanied by visuals that will cause anyone to go hungry, we just can’t get enough of it!  With the advent of Master Chef Junior, my kids’s interest in food has also been piqued as they have come to realize,  that kids can cook too! 🙂

Recently, we were invited by Camp Asia to check out their Super Chef Program at the Stamford American School! Needless to say, the kids were excited, and they could not wait to find out what they were going to create. Together with the chef’s hat and aprons, they were ready to attack the kitchen!

A program is only as good as its teacher, and we were glad to meet Chef Tim and have him host our kids. His experience in engaging children began to show from the onset, as the kids had no problems feeling comfortable around him It is therefore not surprising to find out that he has taught more than 1,000 children and he has whipped up over 20,000 dishes over the past few years. Despite the class being small, the kids were a handful, and Chef Tim had to make sure they the kids were not only learning, but also being safe at the same time.

As the course was held near Valentine’s day, Chef Tim chose to make the program relevant to the occasion by getting the kids to make a heart shaped toast! This was so that Mummy and Daddy, could wake up to something special on Valentine’s Day! 🙂

Check out the smile on the kids, as they tried their hands on making the heart shaped creations. The thing about Camp Asia’s Saturday Chef program, is that you don’t just get to learn how to make 1 dish. On average, the kids will get to learn at least 2 dishes per day. As you can see, the kids will really got into their sessions, as after each dish, they get to sample and enjoy their creations. Instant Rewards for their hard work! 🙂

Cooking is definitely an important life skill for everyone to pick up. As our urban munchkins cracked their eggs, and whipped their concoctions, we realized that they definitely need more time in the kitchen! 🙂

Camp Asia does not just have a weekly Sat program for Cooking, but it has Holiday Camps as well.

If you are looking for an activity that will occupy the kids (From 830am – 3pm), you can get them to sign up for the Easter Program, that runs from Monday to Friday. Kids will get to meet Celeb chef Emmanuel Stroobant and his team of experts, as they demonstrate how important teamwork, leadership and following instructions are in the professional kitchen …and for life in general. On the way, your kids will learn to cook loads of great dishes and hopefully cook for the family as well! 🙂 More details at Easter Camps.
