Well, our favorite Trios are back, and this time with The History of Singapore Part 2!
We have always loved Singapore theatre, and what better to end the year, than by ending it with the Dream Academy. In this latest production, take a trip down memory lane, as the Dim Sum Dollies brings theatre goers back in time. To the days of the “Two is enough” girls, the Ribena kids, and the Courtesy Lion. If these anecdotes sound familiar to you, you should just “pop” on down to Esplanade theatre for some insightful comedy!
Here is a brief synopsis of what to expect at this year’s Dim Sum Dollies:
Singapore is almost 50 and it’s time to take stock: Who did what, when, how and to whom? Goodbye pre-1965 B.C. years (‘Before Crying’)! The Dollies are doing a new song and dance about our A.D. years (‘After Drying’… the tears of separation, that is).
To keep up with the LIGHTNING quick changes on our little island, the Dollies will make lightning quick costume changes, switching from icon to icon and completely redrawing the boundaries of comedy on the Esplanade stage!
Find out what happens when The ‘Two is enough’ girls meet the Ribena kids…Kallang roars and Talentime scores…The Courtesy Lion takes on the Spitting Merlion. Comedy takes centre-stage with the Anson Bye--Bye--elections and the ISA Wave of detentions. And of course, the Great Singapore inventions – CPF, HDB, COE, GST and ERP. Who says that Singaporeans are not creative?
The review sounds really interesting and my wife and I are “pumped” to watch the play for ourselves! 🙂
