Training your Domestic Helper!
Getting a good helper is important for any family! Recently, our Filipino helper had to go home, and we had the unwanted challenge of once again- choosing a domestic helper (Check out our early concerns in the previous post).
We are glad to say that our current Myanmar maid is settling down well. However, just like in any marriage, there are a few “kinks” along the way! Besides the misplaced items in the house, we have had to be more patient, as she gets use to the house and her duties. This is not exactly pleasant, as one must actually find the time to explain our household routines, and make sure that she remembers them.
One of her duties, is to help prepare the children’s bags for school. As the kids get to bathe when they are in pre-school, our helper needs to pack a set of clothes and put them into the children’s bag. Today, when I went to school, I was in for a…
Yes…it was a shock at first…but I was definitely laughing after a few seconds. Nadine was wearing her brother’s shorts, and as they were too big, she kept on holding to them, as she walked to the car.
It seems that our new helper has packed her brother’s shorts for her!
In fact, that has how our week has been! The laundry has been misplaced, meals are cooked late, the food has not been up to its usual standard…
Popo has had to come and help get the maid accustomed to life in our home. She has had to train our new helper to take the bus, so that Nicole has company when she takes the bus home.
It is definitely a bit more inconvenient with someone new in the house, but we have chosen to laugh about the little “Boo-Boos” along the way. Life is a journey with lots of ups and downs, and I am choosing to see the lighter side of the journey…after it, it does make the ride much easier.
