Singtel Mio TV

This December, I recontracted my broadband with Singtel.

With the recontract, I managed to get a brand new Macbook from Singtel. Looks like I am going over to the “Dark Side” and very soon, I will be immersing myself into the Mac World.

I asked my friends about the Mac, and they say that even after 2 years, the Mac hardly slows down in terms of processing speed, and it is extremely stable, as compared to the PC.

I will be getting the Mac in a few weeks time, and hopefully I will be able to give a favourable review soon…:)

Also with the 10mbps broadband speed, Singtel also included Mio TV in the setup and 1 month’s worth of free cable and Free Champions League soccer till August 2010.

Currently, we are enjoying the Mio TV and figuring how to maximise our viewing pleasure with the new network.

Although Singtel does not have as many cable stations as SCV; it does have Mob TV.

With Mob TV, my wife enjoys watching her TCS 8 serials and she is currently enjoying watching episodes of “Together” , as I am writing this blog post. Although the programs come commercial free, they do not have any subtitles to aid one’s viewing pleasure.

The Advantage of Mio TV, is that you can also watch the episodes at any time, and even the latest episodes before they are screened on free to air TV.

However, one disadvantage with the new setup is the ugly wiring around the house. As the Mio TV modem needs to run from the phone socket to the TV set, it creates a lot of ugly wiring around the house . To add salt to the wound, I have 2 decoder boxes sitting near my TV set, which seems to be a real unnecessary eye-sore!

Hopefully, we can get used to life without Mob TV , once the complimentary channels run out in a month’s time.
