Cold Storage Kids Run
The Cold Storage Run is coming up, and this season promises to be another sell out! 
Last week we were at United Square to witness the launch of this year’s Cold Storage run, with the actual race to be held at the Padang on the 19 May 2013. Besides the 14 category race (For kids 6 months to 12yo), there is a social angle to this year’s race, as it aims to help underprivileged kids in developing countries.
The Cold Storage Kids Run 2013 will be embarking on the ‘Pledge-A-Shoe’ project this year, with the aim of raising funds to help children protect their feet by providing them with new shoes. All funds raised through the event, activities and website will be donated to Caring for Cambodia Fund Singapore, a locally registered charity partnering with Cold Storage Kids Run for this project.
Celebrities like Jamie Yeo and Olympic Sprinter Kunalan were therefore there to lend their support to the whole project! Besides the opening ceremony, there were other children’s activities for the kids to expel their youthful energy There was a shuttle run booth, and a rock climbing booth, coupled with other fun activities. Nadine also got to meet one of her favourite Cartoon Characters in Angelia Ballerina.
Last year the kids managed to go for the run, and it was definitely an eye-opener for the kids. We did not do much training for the run, but the 800m was certainly enjoyable for the whole family! Daddy accompanied the kids for the whole run, and I spent most of my time motivating the kids to keep on running!
The truth to be told, Daddy is not too much into the Running Fad that is happening around Singapore at the moment. My exercise regime consists of Freestyle laps around the pool, at least twice a week. However, when I saw the kid’s faces upon receiving the medal. The joy of seeing them receive the prize made me want to sign them up again this year!
One category to look out for this year is the new 3GEN or 3 Generation Family Chase. This category will see kids with their parents and grandparents in tow, running / walking a distance of 800m together. To participate, kids (7- 12 years old) will just have to team up with their parent and grandparent.
