Blog Editor
I just got a Macbook through the promotion offered by Singtel, and I am currently trying to get used to it. Being an avid Blogger, one of the first softwares that I looked out for a useful Blog editor.
An essential software on the PC, is this Blog editor called Windows Live Writer.
Produced by Windows, this program is heaven’s gift for all Bloggers. The normal Blog editors supplied by Blogger and WordPress are not only NON user-friendly, but also provide editing headaches.
What I dislike about WordPress, is that, it is totally unfriendly when u want to add videos and pictures. The interface is also more unfriendly as compared to Blogger!
With the Windows Live Writer, you have a WYSWYG (What you see is what you get) editor.
If u want to add videos or pictures, all you need to do is to use the insert functions, and you can add the videos seamlessly. I have had no problems using it with YouTube and Vimeo.
You don’t need any knowledge in coding in using this program and best of all…
It’s FREE!
If you are a blogger on the PC, you have got to try out Windows Live Writer!
Switching to the Mac, I thought that I would find a better or an equivalent program!
The Mac is often touted as a lifestyle PC, and more suited and more customised to the everyday user.
Well, it definitely has a short start-up time as compared to the pc, but in terms of Blogging Editors, it is definitely one generation behind.
The best program that they can offer, which incidentally does NOT come FREE, is called Blogo.
Costing US $25 dollars, the interface looks classy but it pales in performance as compared to Windows Live Writer.
When you insert a picture, you do not get to see the graphic until you go to preview or publish. Instead all you see is a black box!
When inserting a video, you have to paste it in the HTML editor, and not via a simple insert plugin, as found in the Windows Live Writer.
Blog editing screen view is also smaller, with a lot of unnecessary tables around.
Apple should definitely look into this issue, if it wants to be touted as a lifestyle computer! I mean, nearly everyone from generation Y and Z has a blog at some time of their lives!
Meanwhile, I am still trying to get used to the Mac, and I hope that the other programs prove to be a more appealing adventure.
What Blogging editors do you guys use? If there is a better editor out there, please let me know! 🙂
