Family Time with Oreos

It’s time to put away those electronic devices, and get our priorities right. Tablets, hand phones and the World Cup seem to be the main agenda on everyone’s schedule. However, it’s always good to take note of our priorities, and put thing right. Time with the family should always be on the top of our lists, and instead of “Me Time”, it’s good to have some “We time” together with the family during weekends.

We firmly believe that a family stays together, when we play together. And that is why we are always trying to clear our Annual leave during the School Holiday period on top of the weekends we have during normal school term. Besides spending time with the kids at home, we have lined up some up some outdoor family activities for the kids. The kids love it when we bring them cycling, hiking and swimming. Movies are also a treat, and the kids are definitely looking forward to watch the latest Transformers Movie as well! (More about this later.).

As a typical Singaporean family, another one of our favourite family activities revolves around Food! Last weekend, we tried our hand at making OREO-topped Popcorn. Nadine may have just lost her 2 front teeth, but that did not stop her from wanting to make her very own OREO-topped Popcorn too!

Using the suggested recipes from the “OREO Snack Hacks”, we made our new snacks using a block of Cadbury’s Dream Chocolate, OREO Cookies, and 1 Bag of Regular White popcorn.  The tough part about getting the kids to make the snack was stopping them from eating the cookies! At our first attempt, Nicole was too busy eating the OREOs cookies…

We did much better with our 2nd attempt, as we made sure that the kids ate some of the cookies before we made our way to our kitchen.

Naturally, the kids jumped at the task, and they could not contain their excitement, as Daddy and Mummy gave them step-by-step instructions to make their own Snacks.  Check out the youthful enthusiasm, as they watched mummy cut the white chocolate and add the extra ingredients to their crushed OREO Cookies. With their favourite Popcorn added to the mixture, this concoction was a winning combination!

 

Besides being a big hit with the kids, the OREO-topped Popcorn will also make a great snack for Daddy and his friends, when they watch the World Cup together!
