Companies with a “heart” are hard to find these days, and what’s harder to find is a company that cares for kids!

It was therefore with great enthusiasm that I went to the official opening of HSBC Insurance’s newest agency representative office in Singapore.

Catalyst Capital Group (CCG) is the latest agency to represent HSBC Insurance, and this agency is one which has a heart! It not only looks after the needs of its clients, but it has the social awareness to “adopt” needy children and be a blessing to them.

CCG’s focus on giving back to the society is in line with HSBC’s emphasis on community investment and  the young agency office has adopted 20 children from low income families who are under the charge of Tanjong Pagar Family Service Centre.

But its help does not stop with just a cheque…

The company believes that everyone on staff can be involved in community work. For one year, CCG will focus on investing in the 20 children by equipping them with life skills. The children will attend value-based programs, that are fully sponsored by CCG. These programs are carried out by CityCare Limited, a social enterprise which promotes volunteerism. Isn’t that cool!

Above that, the children are encouraged to have savings. In this Savings Program, CCG will match the savings dollar-to-dollar (capped at a certain amount) at the end of the month!

Its investment will not stop there.  The children will be taught the virtue of giving: they will be encouraged to donate half of the matched amount to a home for the elderly. CCG also plans to arrange for job opportunities with flexible working hours for the mothers of these children, so as to substantiate the income for these families.

With more than 20,000 clients, and with the commitment to apportion part of the premium clients pay—to charity, the children will benefit tremendously. You can be sure that each client played a part to help the less fortunate when they do business with CCG.

At the invitation of CCG’s district director Stanley Quek, I was glad to grace the occasion, and we were happy to be associated with the agency’s heart to be a blessing to the community.
