Having been fans of the restaurant chain for some time, we were looking forward visit Crystal Jade Prestige! As the name suggests, Crystal Jade Prestige offers Diners a more high end experience as compared to Crystal Jade Kitchen. Located at Marina Bay Financial Centre and overlooking the Marina bay, we were invited to sample Crystal Jade’s 10 course Weekend Brunch.  If you are looking to bring your Dad for a good father’s day meal, this may be one of the options to consider.

Crystal Jade Prestige Weekend Brunch Menu

As the name suggests, the Weekend brunch may be on the more pricey side, as it also comes with the option of  free flow Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label champagne ($98 per person). However, if you are more of a social drinker, one can opt for the cheaper price of $58 per person ( ($48 or $88 for DBS/POSB/Jadeite members).

The tricky part about the Weekend bunch is that you can’t order all the items, and they don’t come on a free flow basis (I would definitely rate it more highly, if it did, as the brunch does offer quality food).

From the menu, one can pick 10 items from 5 different categories (Hence 10 Course):

From the Menu, under each category, one has different options:

  1. Appertizers –  Pick 1.
  2. Dim Sum – Pick 5
  3. Roast Meat – Pick 1
  4. Soup – Pick 1
  5. Wok-fried dish – Pick 1
  6. Dessert – Pick 1

As we visited the restaurant as a family, selecting the dishes was quite easy. The kids are still young, and we knew what the kids liked or disliked. However, when dining with friends, everyone must agree with the dishes ordered, and the quantity served is according to the size of the party.

The consolation about the limitations, is that one does get quality food. To start off your meal, under the soups, one is offered chef’s special soup of the day, Szechuan hot & sour thick soup or scallop and asparagus thick soup. A highlight would be the pan-fried kurobuta pork with wild fungus, which was something we enjoyed, and had the kids clamoring for more! 🙂

As we were limited to our options, we managed to try the deep fried cod fish cube with passionfruit sauce. It was certainly different, as normally I take my cod fish steamed or baked.

If we had other options, we would have opted to try other quality creations like the pan fried quail filled with foie gras sauce and red wine or sauteed prawns with white pine mushroom and black truffle sauce. Certainly quality creations, that present diners with many “öut of the box” creations. fried fish

As like in any Chinese restaurant, one can enjoy pork belly and BBQ Pork at this brunch. The BBQ pork was succulent, and it would have been better, if we could have more!

The Dim sum collection had quite a selection for us to choose from.

We had the:

siew mai

Steamed Pork & Shrimp Dumplings topped with caviar. Certainly yummy! As how often do you get your favorite pork with Caviar.

truffle siew mai

Steamed Shrimp Dumpling with Black Garlic was another fusion dish that we got to sample. Other dishes that one can look for on the menu are the  poached beancurd skins rolled with prawns in superior broth, steamed shanghai xiao long bao and baked abalone & diced chicken pastry.

The weekend Brunch is certainly different, and if you have the budget and a special lunch to plan for, the Crystal Jade Prestige Signature Weekend Brunch will run from 1 May to 26 June between 1130 to 1500.
