For our meal that night, we tried the Carpcaccio di Polipo-Raw Octopus and Fegato Grasso-Hot and Cold Foie Gras, as the appetizers. The appetizers were very good, they were exquisite in presentation and we took a while before we dared to poke our forks in! The cold Foie Gras took some getting used to, but the hot piece was really yummy and worth the calories!

For the Mains, we ordered Agnello-the Lamb and Duet of Angus-the Beef. The Mains were also prettily presented and the portions were surprisingly regular! (We were expected minute servings, as our past experiences in fine dining places always left us hungry in our tummies and pockets) We liked the Lamb dish more simply for the awesome sauce and perfectly done meat. The Beef was a tad too well done to our request for Medium Rare, so it lost points there.

Finally, the dessert… We always order a Chocolate something and a Fruit something. This time, it was a Warm Chocolate Fondant and a Amalfi Lemon Tart. I don’t understand Italian, but the short description in plain English given in the menu made it an easy choice! Gianduja Lava & Vanilla Gelato and Pistachio Coulis, White Chocolate Ganache & Pistachio Gelato. We read it as Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla ice cream, and Lemon Tart! 🙂 The desserts did not disappoint, especially the Chocolate Lava cake… It was heavenly.

After our romantic meal for two, we have to bring on the rest of the troops for more desserts! (We all have sweet tooth in this family!) We brought them to Dolcetto by Basilico at the Regent Hotel to experience some fine Italian desserts.

When we arrived, all the kids fell silent. They were so busy looking at what’s offered, and thinking hard what to choose. Everything looks so inviting and even the adults took a while to make up our minds what we should try!

 

 

This gourmet pastry shop sells premium Italian coffee and freshly baked breads. They also have Italian imported confectioneries, chocolates, cookies and olive oils. But the product that caught all our attention was the PASTRIES and CAKES! In the end, we decided to try their signature Strawberry Shortcake, Lemon Tart, and Chocolate cake. They were very very very good, and definitely a place to go have a coffee! The plush seating and quite surroundings made it very ideal for those who have a book and an afternoon tea, or for those who wanna have quiet chat with friends. The prices weren’t expensive too (no different from the regular coffee joint at your office block), and Amex card holders get a 15% discount.
